Ok Scd fans, Here is the bottom line on the judges because all I am reading is we hate the judges.

So to balance everything up and no doubt upset the whole of the pink palace by no means the last word but I am fed up.

When I was at school I used to play cricket from a very early age however as time went by I became better and better, until when I was about 12 years of age I thought I was the best batsman ever, coaches told me I was good captain of the team told me how good I was. One afternoon we were playing a team from a public school and one of the umpires was just a ittle bias towards them. Now bearing in mind we where a good team and yes my reputation for staying in the crease was getting around, to cut along story short we started to loose batsmen and fast, a couple decisons went against by this umpire, To be honest bias umpiring was taking place, after about an hour at crease I was given out on a very poor lbw. At this point I saw red and being 12 went blooming mad at this umpire acused him of cheating the works.

When I walked off back to the dressing room I past my captain who was alot older as we past he glarred at me and said "idiot" I walked into the dressing room to see the coach standing there and after 10 minutes of one of the worse boll##king's of my life, followed by another 20 minutes of dressing down by both umpires, followed by a suspension for three games, and picking up litter from around school every break for a month. Why?

Simple for showing decent to a umpire. Yes everyone agreed he showed bias but it was not the time or place to show my anger at the umpire. A lesson I still use today, there is a time a place to raise objections.

I have read that Arlene's words such as filth, raunchy, dirty etc are and should not be used on Saturday tea time and hostile and rude comments are again not justified because of family entertainment, however is family entertainment watching a proffesional dancer, someone who kids look to admire because he has won the competion, what standard does that set for them, those young kids last year doing there group dance they can now basically say well I don't like the comments of the judges so I will throw my rattle out of the pram.

There is a time and a place, I donot agree with alot of the comments that have been made. If we had 4 judges that were all ballroom would be as dull as dishwater and within weeks would turn scd into a boarfest, It is not perfect but it is entertainment there is a little improvment to be made but Craig is usally consistant with his scores, and in the past has been critical of contestants, I could pull posts and posts off we hate Craig because he is mean and nasty, but at least he is consitant, (expect the 2 he gave Peter), I have have posted in the Past about Arlene, I think she should be brought into check by the producers, however Len and Bruno are consistant and are usally quite positive with the celebs, and there are previous posts to back this up.

Sorry to go on but SCD is about family entertainment not profesional dancers with big egos thinking they are better than the show and behave like a 12 year old who was given out by a bias umpire.

I know I will become unpopular by posting but it is a family show and showing public rattle throwing is not what scd is about.

I agree with you SD. There is a time and place and last Saturday in the middle of an entertainment show was certainly not the place to behave like that. I have posted this on other threads with little support, so I am very pleased you have raised this too!

Don't mean to upset you, Dad (honestly) but if you're so fed up with all this nonsense...as I think most of us are.... why did you start yet another thread on the matter

Simple really as bewest has already posted people are to busy looking at how and why brendan blew up rather than ask should he have blown up at the time he did.

I totally agree with you Stinkies Dad and said as such on the night. Brendan had valid points but there is a time and a place to air them and it was rather unprofessional for him to do so right then and there.

I realise that to be a dancer, or in fact anything where competition and striving to be the best is the true aim, emotions run high.
I reckon that Brendan got caught up in this moment and perhaps didn't handle it in the best way. Like Karen said on ITT it happens a lot in the dance world, she has seen it and i'm pretty sure all the other professionals have also.
I just hope that it can all be ironed out before this weekend. I would hate for this to drag on and on and to detract from the whole enjoyment of the show (and this forum )
Brendan had valid points....Craig had valid points. It's time to kiss and make up and get on with the best bit....the dancing

Great post, Stinkies Dad! I agree 100%. I have not waded into any argument or posted in any other threads about this (mainly because I didn't agree and didn't want to 'upset the apple cart'. There's already so much animosity on these boards ... ). Whilst it's entertaining to have some conflict (and it is a highly pressurised world and these are creative people so it would be surprising if there wasn't). it's time to give it a rest now and go onto something else. I know that Brendon wasn't entirely thinking of himself as he mentioned Ray and Camilla and that was nice of him.

However, it has now turned into an 'us and them' against the judges and that can't be healthy for the show or its fans (who have also headed that way).

I applaud you for saying something I was too cowardly to say.

I do take your point, and from your analogy with your own experiences of bias in cricket you seem to be saying that you think Brendan's views had some validity, but that the time and place was wrong. I, too, dislike the elevation of brattish behaviour, but if you think Brendan's feelings had some justification, how and when do you think he should have expressed them?
I suspect that a quiet moan to the producers would not have been to much avail, and I wonder if the other dancers (who were happy to back him up during his outburst) would have had the balls to accompany him to a meeting about this erratic judging? I suspect if the debate gone on behind the scenes, nothing would have changed, certain judges would have been severely miffed that their judgment was called into question, and the perceived troublemakers would simply have been marked down further.
Having the debate out in the open (with a surprisingly high percentage of people on here agreeing with the rebel), will, I believe, mean that we'll see more reasonable marks given out in future. So maybe in this case the means justifies the end.
I do sympathise with your views on fair play and all that, though.

A few points to consider.
I've mentioned 'em elsewhere, so if you've read them before, I apologise.

The judges are encouraged to be controversial, that's why their selection is as diverse as the characterisation of the Village People.
Arlene and Bruno are more concerned with projecting their own personalities. Their little speeches delivered after some performances are "pre-prepared." I don't believe they can come up with such "spontaneous remarks" including examples of alliteration and onomatopoeia, I don't think they're that bright. So are their scores pre-prepared too?

Len rarely gives anyone less than five. His remarks I think are spontaneous, he probably has a wealth of them built up over years and uses them to criticise his pupils in his dance classes.
Craig always looks as if he'd rather be "somewhere else." He's supposed to be the "baddy" but I think he gets bored with that role; he's probably the most frank.

Where it is all falling down is in the consistency of marking. OK they have favourites, but fortunately it isn't the same competitor. If they kept to their individual prejudices it would be OK, but there's "evening up" of marking going on now so the marking's "going out the window."
All the nonsense last week will have gone down a treat with the producer, no way will it be discouraged it's good for ratings.
Brendan? He's just as bad. He's rocking the boat and antagonising the judges, but the producer won't care for exactly the same reasons.
I think he'll quieten down now as the competition is starting to get serious,

Still it's all good fun, if you don't take it too seriously. I watch every show and I enjoy it. I don't care who wins.

Many a time coming back from a comp, there has been the post mortem in the car whilst travelling down the M-whatever. We've bad mouthed the judges, criticised them, cursed at them, but all in the confines of the car.

Then, at the first lesson after the comp, there was a second session where we went through it all over again with our teacher!

I do understand how Brendan must have felt, too many of us dancers have been 'carved up' at comps and I'm sure we have all wanted to bang heads. It feels good to vent and get it out of your system but there is a time and a place and, like your experiences with cricket, I was always told that this should happen in private. To the public, you should appear a gracious loser.

Someone had to say it, and I am glad the OP has been brave enough to do so, just wish I had the guts.

I am not saying that Brendan was wrong, nor am I saying I was impressed by Arlene and Len's reaction, infact I was very upset by the judges vendetta, especially Len, but there is expressing something and there is being a self centred attention seeker. Brendan maybe crossed that line AND with Brendan's reputation you have to wonder how much of it was Brendan reinforcing his bad boy image.

What most of us have the problem with is the judges!! not the dancers! once just once they spoke out!!

Beccause he had enough!!!!

But part of being a professional is to know the time, place and manner of airing your grievances. I have to admit one of the first things I thought was 'he's right but he shouldn't have said it right then'.

I'm a teacher. I get wound up beyond belief by the behaviour and attitude of certain students. But it would be HIGHLY inappropriate and unprofessional of me to talk about that in front of the entire class right in the middle of a lesson. As a professional its my job to act professionally no matter how fed up I am.

I am sorry, but this is not the first time Brenden has lost it, he did it in series two, and to be quite frank the whole point of my post is to say that yes Brenden had engough but by blowing up in front of the cameras was not the thing todo. in his dressing room with the producers not in front of 8 million or so viewers many of them children.

I think Darren Bennett and Karen Hardy showed their true feelings about it on ITT. Neither seemed particularly impressed, did they?
Its not so much the complaining about scores,its bringing other competitors into it.
