The Tarbuck Twist?

Are we any more enlightened on what if any the "twist" following Jimmy Tarbuck's early exit is going to be?
Are they now just going to have one less couple in the final? Surely if they were going to have a no elimination week, they would have done it right away, otherwise it's not really fair on those that are gone.
And as for voting a couple back in, again is that fair? Those that are left have gone through weeks of training and eliminations. Why should somebody just walk back in again?
Having promised a "shock twist", they really need to do something, but surely it should have happened by now?

Maybe a good-ish couple from another series (i.e. assuming their partner has been eliminated, perhaps denise/zoe and ian, or diarmuid and nicole ((although maybe they weren't that good)), or god forbid carol vordeman and that paul bloke)

Dunno though, what do you think?

I think the series will run its natural course and the beeb will cobble together some kind of 'best-of' to fill the last programme slot....disapponting but likely

well the press release did say "there will be an exciting twist to the competition to look out for"..... getting less and less convinced though!

I don't think they'll be doing that, as isn't the final scheduled to go up against ITV's X-factor final? If it is, then they'll definitely want something bigger than just highlights, so as to beat them in the big ol' ratings "war"!

(Which, coincidentally, according to the Sunday Times' Culture magazine, SCD are winninging, 9.23million V 8.96 million viewers for the week ending 08/10.)

I'm just trying not to get my expectations too high!! And, like DancingBear, I'm doubting the supposed exciting twist more and more.

And hasn't the Tarby story been conspicuous by its absence from ITT....has there been a single mention?

I thought a new dance had been added to the schedule!

Would they not though still have the final in the same week, but have two couples in it and not three? How does the maths work out for that? It's hardly an "exciting twist" though.
They must have some sort of contingency in place. It must be expected that dancers due to injury are going to have to pull out. I'm surprised it's not happened already.

Hmmm, the only thing that hasn't yet been considered, is the last week being devoted to a pro dance-off, with the public voting for their favourite professional couple.

Not wanting to sound cynical or a bit Brendan but are they just waiting for a week when two favourites are at the bottom, Louisa, Emma or Mark to announce that nobody is going that week.

I think the BBC are just waiting for someone (maybe one of us even ) to come up with a good idea. No-one has so far though

Er, 'scuse me .... pro competition? I think this is a goer of an idea!

We could see what the pro's are really made of instead of seeing little bits while they're dancing to Ronan bl**dy Keating. Or, as someone else called him on the forum the other day ..... Tintin!

As long as we DID see them dancing - with the state of the camera work as it is...

But yes, it could be a great idea.

I think we should have a week of Judges and Presenters.

Bruce and Tess dancing a Jive

Len and Arlene dancing a Paso

Craig and Bruno dancing a Rumba

Claudia and Red Button Commentary man dancing a Waltz

And bring back all previous contestants to judge them - would take a long time, but we've got a 1hr 30mins to kill.

It is a great idea. What I mean is, I am not convinced that BBC has a great twist up its sleeve, or any contingency plan. Feel a collective drumming of fingers, wondering what to do...

You could be on to something there!

I hope there are still 3 couples in the final, so if there is a show to be filled I'd like to see some kind of professional competition/dance spectacular.

As soon as they announced "an exciting twist" but without saying what it was, you knew they hadn't a clue. It is the BBC remember, but only they couldn't see from the start that Jimmy Tarbuck (who I like) was just "a heart attack waiting to happen" the producers concentrating on "ratings" more than what time and effort would be required for "practice schedules." So his withdrawal would have been a surprise.

They probably were thinking "no one goes out this week" at first, but that would be such a "turn off" and there has been a lot of "anti" feelings expressed about that idea.
The programme is geared to someone going out each week. The higher ratings for the "results programme" indicates the importance of that. So we'll have to wait and see. Whether it'll be "Exciting" or a bit of a "twist" remains to be seen.

maybe tarby will come back in an unexpected twist dancing like a cross between anton du beke and fred astaire, completely wow the judges to the point him getting 4 10's for a very saucy samba with flavia and then win the SCD crown for 2006!!

Has anyone counted how many couples are left divided by the number of Saturdays until the advertised final ? What does this leave us with ? (not good at maths and off to watch Eastie so will check back here to see if anyone with a brain bigger than mine has done it !)

Would not be surprised if they had got together with X factor on this and arranged the double eviction last week so they can both finish early and have Christmas progs on the 23rd
