Auto-on truly automatic!
Klopek
02-11-2006
Hello. I've recently noticed that my 9200T has been booting at midnight completely on its own.

Funny thing is that auto-on is disabled! I've never used that feature. When I checked the option I found that enabling it does indeed display a default setting of 00:00.

Anyway, the point of my post, I didn't do a factory reset after upgrading to .08 - so perhaps anybody else with this firmware should check whether their box is also booting at 00:00 without being set to do so. (Unless you use Auto-on and it's set to a different time)

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to stare at it again since changing the option... but I hope simply enabling the auto-on and then disabling it again will have set it right. Either that or I'll have to perform a factory reset and re-do all my timers.

I seem to remember having that happen when new. If I'm right, it actually needs to be cycled through an on to an off state - merely saying don't do it doesn't stop it.

i seem to remember a post months and months ago about this. I have tried searching, but with so many threads i couldn't find it.

To my recollection, if there is a timer set to record on the day in question, if prepares itself by switching on, then back off again. This might be totally wrong, and if so I apologise. Besides there is no way to test till midnight

I tried leaving it off at the back for a while but only a default settings/factory reset corrected the problem.

That's right, a few users had this problem until they eneabled it and then turned it off.

To be honest, I think turning it off overnight is a good thing, not only does it save on electricity it also gives the HDD a rest, hopefully extending it's life.

I have mine set to turn on 10 minutes before I get home from work and the EPG is always loaded by the time I get in.

My machine is on at midnight anyway so not noticed a power-on at that time.

True for me too, which is why it has taken me so long to realise it was booting at midnight! This could have been going on for months... and I'd never know about it unless I was sitting in front of it since I have the sysem set to auto-power-down at about 5am (just incase I forget to turn it off) - so I'd never notice it being on the next day.

I never notticed you were talking about an auto on, because you saw it at midnight I reead it as and auto off issue.

Have you got your Humax set to auto update? if you do is it set for midnight, that's the onbly thing (apart from the previously mentiuoned error) that could be causing it.

It had nothing to do with my settings. I checked everything. Auto-update was turned off and the default time isn't midnght anyway.

It must just be a complete cockup that has occured while updating the firmware. I've never used Auto-on.
