Hi,

I have a set of 4 Monitor Audio speakers (2 floor standing MA14s and a pair of shelfs), and a Ruark centre front, which I was using with my Sherwood Newcastle R945RDS receiver until recently.

I can either get the Sherwood repaired (but I don't know who in Plymouth could handle it) or I can replace it.

If I choose to update it, I don't need to connect any analogue devices - such as a cassette deck - at all.

My computer can handle any analogue to digital conversion, if necessary - so I can re-record all my tapes if necessary, and my records have mostly been replaced with CDs by now.

I'm happy with 5.1 (actually just 5), but the option to add more speakers at a later date would be an advantage.

I only have a DVD/CD player (Coax SPDIF only) and computer (again, Coax SPDIF) at the moment, but am considering a HD DVD player.

So, if I change, an Ethernet and a range of digital Coax and Optical sockets would be all I really need on a permanent basis.

Obviously I watch a lot of movies, and play CDs & MP3s - the MP3s being stored on my file server.

My music choice is a lot of female voice (Nanci Griffiths, Mary Black, Madeline Peroux, etc.) but I play lots of Jazz and classical too - as well as action movies.

I Dont have a HD-Ready TV at the moment, but might consider one if I ever fall into some money, but I do have a HD capable 30" LCD TV/Monitor.

Of course, I also use Freeview (new box to be acquired soon - so don't know what type of output, yet) and Telewest (Optical audio). Nearly forgot my PS2 (optical), too.

And after all that, I nearly forget to ask the question:

I have a budget of £300 - what should I replace the R945RDS with?

Because of my budget, I don't think I can afford a 101 inputs, but enough digital ones, DAB radio and HDMI (for future proofing) would be nice.

Obviously, I'm looking for something that's reasonably future proofed. Am I asking too much maybe?
