I think whatever Brendan and Claire did on Saturday, they would have got a bashing by the judges, who held a lot of bad feeling held over from last week. Unfortunately, their salsa wasn't great either so the judges felt vindicated in ripping them apart.

What I was most confused by was Len's comments. Last week he told them to stick to the filth, this week he told them to forget about it and stick to the dancing. I think Len gets the least criticism compared to the other judges on these threads, but his "kind" scoring and irrational comments are really making me like him less and less.

Comment:'...this is one of the most natural salsa action I've ever seen (Philip)...' then he hasn't seen much Salsa then. There was no body isolation, the hip movements were just catwalk style struts, there was no upper body movement...at least Matt tried to get the upper body movement.

'...they're such a couple, looks like they've been dancing for years (Philip)...' They might have been a couple but the distance they had between them meant the only way they were going to connect during that dance was via semaphore.

I watched it with someone who has been dancing longer than me and they were of the same opinion.

There didn't seem to be much going on in Claire and Brendan's routine, except more of the strutting, posing and pouting that they're becoming notorious for!

I don't understand what they are trying to do - but they're going to get kicked out if they don't change the attitude.

I have a feeling that Brendan doesn't want to be there anymore! If I were him, I'd feel thesame

I know that I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not keen on dances like the rhumba and salsa - I generally just find them to be squiggling and walking and totally unsexy.

Having said that, I really didn't like anything to do with Claire and Brendans dance - even in the bits from the practices - it just seemed like trying so hard and that took all the oomph out of it, for me.

I was actually quite surprised I enjoyed Mark and Karen's dance - but I think Karen pitched it a bit better and concentrated more on the fun side than the sexy side and it just seemed to work far better, again, for me.

I think someone said on another thread, and I agreed, they were trying to hard to BE sexy, rather than just dancing and letting the sexiness "happen". If that makes sense..?

I was at the show on Saturday night, and when they weren't filming the live bits, Brendan looked like he was having fun and enjoying himself. He was happily chatting with the other dancers and celebs, bouncing around, chatting to Mark Ramprakash's little girl (thought that was very sweet). The man can't stand still!

I would be very surprised if he didn't want to be involved in SCD - I think he still loves it.

Makes lots of sense sarah-flute...trying too hard usually ends up just looking a bit desperate. Subtlety can go a long way.

He loves dancing. Of that, there is no doubt. The pros who get voted out leave the competition but they still participate in the show. For example, Brendan danced twice on Saturday- once with Claire, and the other time with his fellow professionals!

I can't lay claim to the sense of it *grin* but as soon as I read it I thought, yes, spot on. And yes, sutblely vs looking a bit desperate... kinda says it all which one would YOU pick, boys and girls *grin*

I really hope Brendan comes up with a good routine that Claire and do justice to next week. We know he's a fantastic dancer, and I think she has more potential than we've seen in action. I'm not a huge fan of either of them but I'd really like to see one dance where I thought "yeah, actually, that was good, she did that pretty well." That's what you really want from all the couples, after all (though of course, more than one dance where you can say that is even better!)

Well, it does prove something - although I agree, it's by no means conclusive evidence that he still wants to be involved in the show. However, he did look really upbeat, so whatever is going thorugh his mind, he made it seem as if he was still having fun. But maybe that's his professional attitude. My point was, the bits they show on camera (him storming off, mouthing back) etc. aren't how he behaves all evening.

I certainly didn't think he was this way all the time

Thanks for the inside gossip from Saturday Shappy - it is always interesting to read and glad to hear that Brendan didn't seem to be too down after the treatment he had received at the hands of Tess and the like
