That's strange. didn't know that, winnielong - thanks. :

The dance itself was fabulous, no two ways about it, and definitely the best of the night, but ...

I don't know....

I just wonder whether, had a different couple had that problem, would their marks have suffered in a way that Karen and Mark's didn't?

Brendan & Natasha, Patsy & Anton, Lilia & Darren all could have (not of) stopped the dancing. They chose not to. Karen & Mark did, get over it.

But you just said they SHOULDN'T have stopped. What's the difference between stopping and doing it themselves, and what actually happened?

Slightly p*ssed at Karen if I'm honest. Only she would have the balls to stop! And no one relaly had any choice *but* to let them start again. I can see why, there's no way thry could have done half their routine. But yeah, annoyed. Bet half the pros are as well. Lilia especially after her samba strab debacle.

LOVED Bruce and the sound woman though Hilarious!

Like I have said in another thread, if the routine had almost been over then I don't think Karen would have stopped it - however with the malfunction happening so early in the routine, and being the kind of malfunction that would then make the rest of the dance impossible, I think she did right.

This is a competition about the celebs, and at no point was any of what happened Marks fault, and the fact that he started again when his legs must have been shaking, and did such an amazing job, is, in my opinion worth a 9 every time.

Ok, I admit it - I was quite happy to watch Mark for longer than was expected.

And it was Karen who stopped it - I got the impression Mark was trying to keep going.

If they stopped and got low marks audience would voted to keep them in. The sympathy vote so why not just let them continue

Yes, I would think Mark has the ability to keep going.......

Why do they need mics anyway during dancing?!

I expect the dancers are asking that question right now... :rolleyes;

I also agree they should only have had 1 attempt. In serris 2 Jill shoe got caught in her dress she untangled herself while still dancing and just carried on this is what these should have done

Just watched it again on my sky plus recording. It looks like when they went together for the first time that Karen did the 'lean back and shake it' she managed to come up between Mark and the mike wire, cos they stopped for a few beats as if they realised something was amiss. They carried on with Karen desperately reaching behind her and trying to pull the wire free (it seemed to be caught in her fringing, which is nightmare stuff - even the 'pro' salsa dancers last week had a problem with it when it got caught up).

They kept trying, but it obviously wasn't going to happen. I think Karen acted very professionally by stopping - she also seemed to think that that was their only shot and was apologising to Mark - he was the one asking for another go.

Yes, they were more relaxed and better the second time around...but they were already the best salsa of the night from the short start they'd made. And I say that as a Louisa fan!

Lets face it. They would of got the public and judges votes even if they did a bad performance.

I didn't mind them getting a second chance but the scores should have reflected this bearing in mind that he had missed a few steps first time round! If one of the other couples had accidentally tripped during a routine, would the judges have ignored the trip?

If it had not been a salsa but a close ballroom dance maybe they could have carried on.

I think the reason Mark started so badly was because his mic was a problem from very early on in the dance.

No, because that would be a DANCE error - not a mic malfunction.

I agree it was better the second time around, but watching it back it looks like they were having problems with the mike as soon as they started.

I thought it would have been most unfair if Karen and Mark hadn't been allowed to dance again. They did try to continue, but as others have pointed out, the wire was caught between them and impeded their movements. Karen was the best person to judge what to do in the situation and, I feel, made the right decision.

I suspect that other professionals in the same situation would have done the same. After all, it was NOT a wardrobe malfunction but a problem caused by the producers requiring the dancers to wear microphones. (I suppose Bruce and Tess can't carry a hand-held mike for the interviews!!!)

And yes, I believe that, without the interruption, they would have got some tens tonight.
