It is no comparison AT al between Lilia and KAren! Yes they were both big problems but Karen was completely attached! All these people saying they shouldn't have stopped are being idiots! OF COURSE THEY HAD TO STOP! Karen Hardy is not the kind of woman or dancer to stop if there wasn't the pure necessity! what the hell could they have done? Its ridiculous! I am so glad they stopped, they should have stopped and their routine was amazing! GOOD ON THEM!

I have very love/hate feelings towards Karen. I respect all that she acheived and she's a great dancer and choreographer. And respect her ina grudging sort of way for having the balls to stop. But there's still something about her that I don't like and I can't work out what it is.

I would imagine some other pros feeling like me right now. And yeah, Lilia must be annoyed.

I think it was easier to stop and start the routine from the beginning. Can you imagine the hassel of picking a point to restart the dance? Old Brucie shouting at the band "start where she does that twisty bit"

I agree - and I wouldn't be complaining if it had happened to any of the other couples. I think we need some perspective here. Microphones should not be on the dancers while they are dancing, therefore if a malfunction due to the microphone impedes the dancers, they should be allowed another go.

Please lets get rid of the mics!

whats all this got to do with lilia?

I think they may get rid of the mics from next week. How hard is it for Bruce to hand them one when they stop dancing.

Lilia did look a tad cross at the very end.

Or maybe that my brain telling me she would be?

Ah, dear.
At leadt this might make ITT more interesting.
And reduce the Keating/Mel C space time.

lol at the whinging here. So because a microphone came off either due to pure accident or an incompetent sound technician, you think the contestants should be marked down? How very uncharitable many of you are

So up until they had the mic thing, Mark and Karen were crap?

They would have been good with or without it....they were brilliant up until that. It made no difference to me, and would not have with any dancer in the same position.

Lighten up people. It wasn't them, it was a BBC technical fault thing...they didn't set it up, they were not after sympathy, it was not a conspiracy, and to be honest, it must have been hard to start again when Karen was clearly upset....

Ask yourself this.

If it was your fav would you still say the same after examining the facts?

And do you truely think that if they carried on they would have been crap?

I don't think so.

Perspective please ladies and gentlemen.

not a lot but it has been posted that she will complain.

I don't agree with that myself I would hope she has a sense of fair play.

Only one person seems to have touched on this so far but imho the mic issue had the potential to be really dangerous.

During the routine they had to move apart and when they did stop and untangle themselves, that wire seemed to be long enough for one of them to have tripped and fallen.

I think carrying on during a torn costume should be expected but where there is the potential for someone to get hurt then they should stop - same as if one of the girl's heels had snapped off.

Edited to add that we will know what really happened via ITT next week anyway

And why would Lilia necessarily be angry? I would expect that all the pro's would feel the horror that Karen must have gone through! I agree GET RID OF THE MICS!

I think Lilia would have been more annoyed with the judges than Karen - I seem to recall that they were quite critical of her, saying "these things happen, you get on with it", and marked her down for an understandably stilted routine. Whereas they didn't even mention it to Karen.

Why? All west end musical stars do 2.5 hour shows with the exact same sort of microphones, generally taped to their back and pinned into their hair. They cope fine night after night, through multiple costume changes. All it needs is the BBC sound techs and wardrobe assistants to make sure the microphone cable is run carefully and securely.

Googleking, you make a sound point.

Whenever there's an issue, it's the wardrobey people that have ultimate control over it.

Mic, strap, shoe, custard, whatever, they should make it more secure.

On that note the wardrobe department should not be supplying dresses that can malnufunction!

Patsy and Lilia both had problems last year and the pros/celebrities should not be having to worry about whether their miks come loose

The Mic didn't get tangled it was liturally attached to Karens dress and they couldn'nt move, they had to restart and it couldv'e been dangerous.

But i agree with the scores cause even with the glitch they did a really good performance and deserved them scores.

I'm glad to hear that the majority think they should have had a second go, people please vote for them! when i look back at it, it was Karen who stopped the dance and she didn't look like she thought they would get another go, it was Mark who was asking for another go. It would have been physically impossible to carry on, and just look back at bill's v.waltz when he forgot it right at the start but Karen carried him through, it shows that she had no other choice otherwise she would not have stopped it.

I think you are absolutely right there!!!! I don't see what the major issue is with the fact she stopped! Its not as if a step went wrong and she decided to start again!

I cannot believe some of the comments. Of course they couldn't carry on. It wasn't their fault but the fault of the person who put the mic on Mark.

It was right that they should start again.

And it was magnificent!

More strange is that even before the mictangle, their first attempt wasn't nearly as good as their second.

However, i have no problem with them restarting if they couldn't actually move.

I couldn't see any difference between their first attempt and their second!!! Perhaps the adrenaline was pumping more the second time round because of what had happened but it was all looking amazing to me!

I would have a problem if a couple stopped and asked to start again after making an error themselves, but in this case (and with past wardrobe malfunctions) I don't mind the restart. Stopping was a risk, because I think they knew they could have been refused the chance to start again. Plus I think it's pure chance that the second attempt was better - they could easily have become distracted and panicked and messed up after the stoppage.

I agree Katy, the adrenalin would have been PUMPING!

The first may have had a couple of steps out, but I have no doubt that minus the mic debacle they would have still been the best salsa on the night! It dazzled!

I think it was impossible for them to move hence having to stop the dance. If it was something trivial then they should have carried on.
