What it tells people is that there are some very vindictive posters who enjoy nothing more than slating someone. I personally do not have a 'sycophantic view' of Emma. I like the couple but my favourites are Mark and Karen and I also like Ray and Camilla and Carol and Matthew. I was upset to lose Anton and Jan tonight as I thought them a lovely couple and Jan was improving.
As for the 'advantage' (she can't have an unfair '
disadvantage' !!) she allegedly has - give it a rest. Louisa trained at the same school (and within the last few years). Emma trained there - what - 10-15 years ago??? You can forget a lot in that time! Not to mention the fact that she did not train in the samba, the foxtrot, the jive, the waltz etc etc et. What they undoubtedly trained in was
movement and modern dance!!! How the hell is that going to help in ballroom? Anyone with natural rythm will have an advantage (like Mark or Ray - both of whom possess it in spades). You might just as well say that Claire has an unfair advantage because she rides and that means she's limber!!! It's all nonsense.
All this slating (of Emma or any of the celebrities or pros) is very unhealthy and very off-putting. It engenders bad feeling regardless of all the excuses those who are indulging in the nastiness make abolut it being their right. Of course it's everyone's right to criticise performances - but there's a way of doing it that isn't unpleasant and downright nasty. Unfortunately it seems to be endemic on these boards (and not just on the SCD boards either). It's a sad reflection on those who indulge in it and it could deter others who might want to join in for the first time from doing so because they don't want to become embroiled in something like this.
