Does anyone know what has happened to the professionals of series' past?

Those coming to mind right now: Hanna Haarala and Andrew, and Izabela Hannah...

Anyone have any news?

Izabela teaches in Epsom. She was at the show in week 3!! Andrew's been spotted in the audience too supporting Nicole!

Andrew and Hanna are busy on the competitive circuit and are slowly creeping up the pro ranks. Hanna from series one has retired from normal Latin dancing and is now an exhibition dancer with partner Victor De silva...they are very successful. Paul Killick is opening studios up everywhere and is an incredibly highly regarded teacher. That's all I know about!

Wish Paul 'The Killer' Killick would come back, he was fabulous!!

Oh me too! Love him

Paul also does shows with a new partner Alison Epsom, it's not latin he does, just a sort of show dance style of routine with lifts etc, nothing like Hanna Karttunen's exhibition dancing though, and he doesn't compete. And yep as someone else said, he's got studios and teaches.

Sorry to sound dim, but what is the difference between show dance & exhibition dance.? Or did I read your post wrong?

As show dance is mainly dancing, but less strict than normal as it includes a few clever moves and lifts and has more of a theme to the dance. An exhibition dance on the other hand is mainly clever moves and lifts, but fitted together gracefully with a bit of dancing but mostly a lot of expression. Exhibition dancing is a bit more like elegant acrobatics than Latin dancing.

That's the traditional distinction, but nowadays people tend to use the term exhibition dancing a bit loosely for some reason.

Thanks for the explanation, Erinfan.

There never seem to be any dance shows near where I live Does anyone know where listings are advertised?

There are a few dancing magazines around (eg dance news - you can find info at http://www.dance-news.co.uk/) which have news on shows and forthcoming events.

To find other mags, just google dancing mags and I'm sure you'll find some more which may offer free samples so you can check if they have what you are looking for.

Also, if you like a couple in particular, keep an eye on their websites.

"The stage" newspaper might have some info (I'm not sure though, so you'd have to check) and this can be bought in most newsagents...

There is no shows where I live either (north east), so I travelled down to Manchester to see Paul perform with Alison, and I travelled down to London where Hanna was dancing vith Victor....but it's hard to see any shows like that really if you don't live near as they tend to just take place in certain cities all the time which really sucks esp if you're a poor little student like me lol!

As Erinfan said, its best to keep an eye on websites, also reading as many dance forums as you can can let you know of events, if I hadn't been on a certain forum I'd never have found out about Paul's little performance thing in Manchester so it's really handy to look out for info on boards etc.
