Although I'm no particular fan of Miss Kaplinsky, I have
to say she did really well in Tess's abscence and in fact
her performance just underlined Tess's shortcomings and
'lack of range'.
I would like to see her replace Tess next series.

Is it just me or is Tess looking a bit butch these days?

Her Northern accent is so exaggerated and false. I come from 'oop North', and no-one talks like that.

I hope she reads these comments about her accentuated 'accent'.

I used to like it when Bruce said "It's nice to twirl you... to twirl you nice" I thought it was more appropriate for Strictly

"Salaries
In April 2006, the salaries of the presenters and judges were leaked to the press. Bruce Forsyth was paid £415,000 for each series, Tess Daly received £100,000 and each of the judges £13,750 The BBC later revealed that they had been leaked by temporary agency worker, Sam Walton, working as an assistant in their business affairs team."

100 grand far too much !!

Too many poor deluded fools seem to have been blaming Bruce for the problems for too long.

Heck I am almost for keeping Tess, cos as long as she c***s up her simple bits it is always going to make BF look the true pro he is.

I noticed it at the beginning of this series really - she seemed OK before. However, this series she has become a dragon without a lovely wardrobe to take the edge off. As for 100 grand, i am sure there are many lovely girls on these forums or on your street without that hideous assault on the ears accent, that could do her job a million times better for a fraction of the price.

How about Claudia for Tess's job??????

I used to find Bruce difficult and thought he brough Tess down - but its the other way round! I think Bruce is actually okay - I love Claudia and think she would be fantastic as the presenter!!!

I love watching her trying to interview Matt, I get the distinct feeling he doesnt think much of her interviewing technique either, he could run rings around her

Puttin head above parapet here - a bit scary - but here goes - I like her!!!

My boxer puppy is called Tess, because she is from Bolton and is beautiful. I liked how she said "Ooh am all Shuk uop" after Mark did his Elvis impersonation (which I also thought was v v funny).

I think Tess is really nice. She always looks lovely and I think she's a real natural. She's also very popular with the professional dancers, the celebrities and the general public.

And Brucie is King.

What does she add to the show?

I watch SCD and X Factor.

Initially when I watched SCD, I thought Tess was really good looking. She is someone who has natural advantages, tall, slim, blond, even features, potentially could look really classy while Kate Thornton had really bizzare dresses.

However as the weeks went by, Tess went downhill and i now think Kate Thornton is one of the most talented presenters on TV . Her clothes could be hit and miss but her presenting style, the way she handled the judges and contestants, her improvisation (when she said brain instead of shane, we laughed with her not at her, her recovery is commendable). Plus her delivery is really clear.

I'm sorry if she isn't in reality but Tess comes across as quite dim and not very experienced in presenting. All her questions seems scrpted and her delivery is not natural. its like seeing a not very experienced children's TV presenter or new journalist learning their craft except that they would be more enthusiastic and fresh.

okay, she doesn't make her clothes but at least she can have some input. If she isn't as slim as she used to be, she shoulddn't wear dresses that are too baggy at the waist, you need to be reed thin to get away with that without appearing larger than she is.

I agree with those who say her dancing should have improved. Its just not amusing how off time and bad her intro with Bruce is. People would respect her more if she could learn a few more basic steps.

Also didn't like her comments to brendan. I know it was a while ago but when she said you can't tell teh judges they've lost their plots brendan, or something like that, I think it was pretty obvious he just had!

I am sure Claudia is more than capable of presenting the show in place of Tess but LOL can you imagine Tess presenting ITT?

Tess really hadn't ought to make any comments about dancing or anything connected to it whatsoever. Those silly little tripping steps she does with the marvellous Brucie. On another thread these have been called pre-school. Good description I thought. Natasha did her job beautifully when she was on leave.

Also - another thing I was going to mention before and forgot - Tess was SO patronising to Louisa! Remember last week when the judges were hard on her and she came back a little tearful: cue Tess to bend down and say in a baby voice 'were those nasty judges horrible to you?' (or something like that!) as if she were five!

And also with so much time to kill they let Tess INVERVIEW (OMG!) some people in the audience...I actually ended up muteing the sound!

I think the problem with her mainly is she simply doesn't listen to whats being said. She's just about okay on an autocue (whereas Bruce struggles with the autocue and is much more natural without!) but if someone says
"That dance went awful, I just messed the whole thing up"
she'll say
"so, how do you think the dance went?"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

not only that i think she called her poppet a few times!!! how patronising is that!!! definitely think Louisas got more guts and character than Tess. I would back Natasha coming back - having missed series 1 she was the first presenter I knew and couldn't believe how bad Tess is in comparison - also of course means I miussed the whole brendan - natasha saga...which may have made me feel differently, don't know

Gosh, you're really laying into her aren't you?

I think she's very natural, pretty, and seems very caring towards the dancers, professionals and celebrities. She also comes across as really warm and I think she's great at interviewing. But comeone, we're not talking Newsnight here or anything. She's only allowed a couple of minutes to interview people and in that time nobody I know has ever complained about her. She is actually very popular. I think you're running out of people to be bitchy about on this forum, that's all. Have you nothing constructive to say about anything?

Sorry, I cannot agree. She could be a really nice person but her presenting skills are not very good. I'm not saying she is a horrible person, how would most of us know, we have never met her, we are just saying how she comes across. Bruce is great but you should pair him with someone sharp witted. Anyone of his generation hostesses or other gamesow hostesses would have been better than her and remember they could ususlly sing AND dance!!

Other than the Brendan question, I don't have much to say about Tessa, and maybe that's a good thing.

But if they are looking for a new presenter, can I nominate Carol Smillie. She offers everying Natasha did but has tons of experience presenting, as well. Very natural in front of camera, intelligent and quick-thinking, which is necessary for live tv. But never forgets she's a professional presenter and that its not about her.

I think she would be very good but have a feeling SCD management may not like the idea as she definitely won't be taken as anyone's fool!

I agree that Tess is not much of a presenter, but I would rather watch her amateurish but well-meant attempts, rather than Carol Smillie's calculated formulaic style, any day.

I have great respect for the way Carol Smillie has pushed her career forward, she is obviously a driven and determined woman, however it is exactly these qualities which make her a brittle and fake presenter. She would do better in a boardroom rather than in front of a camera.

IMHO
