CAR/MP3 Problem

My Son has a car radio with a USB socket so he can plug his Mp3 player straight into the system,

As the player sticks out a bit he bought a extension lead so he can hide it away, When plugged in direct the player works fine but using the lead it wont work, The player lights up but that is all,

Do you think it is a faulty lead or something else?

PS we have tried it on the computer with the same result.

Sounds like a faulty lead. Whilst I am sure there is a length limitation on USB cables unless your son's car is a streeeeetch limo I cannot see a problem. I regularly connect all sorts of USB devices, including MP3 players with USB cables with extension cables to 2-3 m or so.

Thanks for your reply, The lead is only short about half a metre so that is not the problem,

It must be faulty i will get him to return it.

Another thing to check is if the car stereo has a usb1.1 or usb2.0 interface, if it's usb2 not all leads will work successfully..
