I was at a dinner party last summer, and one of the other guests was a choreographer. He and his partner have worked in and around the West End for years.
Talk turned to Dance Fever, and then to Arlene. This choreographer said that she was a competent and able choreographer, but if she hadn’t choreographed the raunchy dance routines for TOTP would just be another dancer turned teacher, because apart from the raunchy routines she had no special spark to make her stand out.
I wondered what the dancers on this forum thought about that view point?

Also, and I don’t want to upset the apple cart with this because I know he’s loved by most people on here, but have you noticed that there is a nasty, spiteful, bullyboy side to Len? When he raises his voice to criticize a pro, he sounds like a costermonger who has just had his pitch taken away by Dell Boy. It’s such a shame, he doesn’t need to be like that at all.

On ITT tonight did Arlene really say that Brendan wanted to be famous in the discussion about his behaviour?

I thought the same of her with her silly remarks- and all the judges really.

Attention seeking.

Thanks for the link Sallyforth. I like Arlene and it would appear that she hasn't had a very happy life. Yes she goes OTT at times, but don't they all.

Really interesting article.

Quote:
“Among all the judges, Arlene especially has been accused of favouritism. 'Well, I do have a favourite - the cricketer Mark Ramprakash,' she admits.

'For someone to have come in with no dancing background and do what he's done is sensational. I'd love to see him win. Plus, he's a beautiful man with a great body, which helps.'”

Glad she has admitted her blatant favouritism.

Quote:
“Her personal life has been colourful. She married her first husband, fashion designer Danny Noble, when she was 27 and he was just 18. The marriage lasted seven years. Her current partner is also younger than her.”

She likes 'em young, doesn't she?

Quote:
“A set designer called Angus, they have been together for 19 years; he is 51 to her 62.”

So her age is revealed at last.

Quite a revealing interview.

Shappy, can you tell me how you get quotes throughout your thread. Also can you include quotes from different posts. It always takes me so long to input, I'm scared to experiment.

"'All the judges are juggling so many balls. By the time we arrive in the studio on Saturday we're exhausted and tense before anyone is near the dance floor. We generally get on well but at the moment we're more crotchety with each other than usual.'

Among all the judges, Arlene especially has been accused of favouritism. 'Well, I do have a favourite - the cricketer Mark Ramprakash,' she admits.

'For someone to have come in with no dancing background and do what he's done is sensational. I'd love to see him win. Plus, he's a beautiful man with a great body, which helps.'

Arlene was so impressed with Mark that she secretly launched some background checks to discover if Mark was pulling the wool over the judges' eyes.

'I was very suspicious so I did some digging and talked to as many people as I could, but to no avail. Aside from dancing at parties, it's all new to him,' she says."

She did some digging on Mark?! Creepy!
