I have to disagree with your comments - Me and my two daughters were at the first show of SCD this year and we all three commented on how great Brucie was - he actually came and talked to the "ordinary people" asking if we were all okay and not too hot etc - Tess meanwhile strutted around like a prima donna - which really suprised us as we had expected Brucie to be a bit "yesteryear" and Tess to be very down to earth - shows how wrong TV appearances can be. When the cameras were off Tess she was most dis-interested in Joe Public unlike Brucie

Old Brucie handled the mic problem very well - when that woman walked onstage to help and he said 'who's this?' lol but the scripted stuff is just sooo bad!

I used to hate Bruce on the show, but after seeing it live I've found a new respect for him and can tollerate him a bit more!! He's actually really funny when he's not reading off the autocue. His moment yesterday dancing with the sound girl was hilarious!!

Brucie is a class act .........yes,his scripted jokes can be cringeworthy but when it all goes pear shaped and you need someone to hold it together........ he's your man

Anyway, who can imagine SCD without Brucie.....

Tess on the other hand is a different matter....

Bruce will have to b replaced at some point, after all he's
pushing 80!!
I'd like to see someone of the same ilk take over next
year, say Bradley Walsh or Brian Conley. These guys are
comics and song and dance types with the ability to
think on their feet.
Not too impressed with Tess either, her presenting style
is a bit limited, I would prefer someone like Gabby Logan
who has a lot more charisma.

I agree with Brian Conley - I saw him in the West End doing Jolson, and he was amazing.

But I think Brucie has a bit of go in him yet

Oooh, they would be good! Particularly Brian Conley- I think he'd be very good for the chats after the dances before the judges comment

I think that Jill Halfpenny would be another good presenter, if she would be willing to do it- she's been there and would probably understand the contestants' feelings and emotions much better than Tess could, as she has competed in it herself

Brucie is a legend! If anyone's for the chop it should be Tess.

Not in the West End but I saw him in that show, too - very very good as I recall.

I thought the "firm hold" joke last night was pretty good, but most are a little weak. Still, he did a great job when everything went wrong and I think that shows his experience. For all those who think he should be pensioned off, think who the Beeb would replace him with .... Graham Norton (no thanks !)

Your quote "... I take it all back", is good to see, shame you titled this particular topic like you did!! Anyway, it appears Brucie is still going strong!!! The Master at work yesterday! Good game, good game!

While I find Bruce cringeworthy - he was brilliant in an emergency!

ITS HIS ACT I HATE! He is not funny and has no comic timing - but his experience came through last night with the screw up!

He cannot read an autocue and his ability to make people laugh is...well non-existent! However, he is well matched with Tess Daly who I possibly hate more!

It's good to hear minorities express their views.

The Karen and Mark incident was proof positive that Bruce cannot be replaced on SCD, we must remember that as soon as the incident occurred he had someone screaming in his ear, he had to do more than think on his feet, he actually had to rescue this weeks show, did anyone notice him listening? NO, cos he was doing what he does best, keeping the show going AND ensuring the show didn't overrun too much.

For some one to start ANOTHER thread on Bruce's failings really is a bit daft after Saturday.

I like the guy. He's a survivor. If I'm as engergetic as he is when I reach his age, I'll be very happy. Yes, his jokes are cringeworthy but that's part of his appeal.

Very much agree!!! What a career!!! Presenting Live from the Palladium back in the late 1950s and still nearly 50 years later the main host at Saturday night peak time viewing!!! A legend!!

I am not a big fan of Bruce's presenting style but I thought he handled the Mark & Karen incident extremely well.

A lot of presenters wouldn't have known what to do!!

I think Bruce has really risen in my estimation.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I understood he didn't have an ear piece anymore, hence Tess doing the appologising for Bruno's outburst the other week. As a live performer Bruce shows he has experience and skill in spades.

Tess Daly however, I wouldn't give you tuppence for her, too much of a Diva. Maybe Strictly should poach the girl from X factor !!

Bruce is an old pro, I love him and I can't imagine anyone else presenting SCD. He's probably the only one who can make me laugh about jokes that lame .

Please, no!

I find her much more annoying than Tess.

Someone else entirely, possibly, but not Kate Thornton (if I have her name right)

Let's tot things up. So far we have:

1. A contestant's hubby who pushed around a judge.
2. A co-host who stirred things up between the contestants.
3. A Pro who told all of the judges where to get off.
4. A judge who called a pro a "little Sheffield sh****".

Seems to me that Bruce is the only one acting with any degree of tact, professionalism and charm.

I think you're right. I don't think Bruce has an earpiece. Any instructions from the director are relayed to him by the floor manager. It's the 'old' way of doing it.

I like Bruce very much, and hope he sticks around for more series. If he doesn't, however, I'd prefer to see Julian Clary as the new host, rather than any end-of-the-pier cheeky-chappie types.

BTW I think Brucie did a fabulous job on Sat night during the Karen & Mark incident!
