OMG NOT Julian Clary - sparks would fly with the judges, if Bruce were to be replaced it would have to be someone of a similar ilk. Lionel Blair would be a good option or even Tarby

I wouldn't want Bruce replaced but if he was the only replacement I can think of as suitable would be John Barrowman.

Exactly Fiona, I love Brucie is the same affectionate way

Not Julian Clary - he is far too rude and the people who are already a little affronted at the "saucy" content and swearing on SCD would not like his constant innuendos (I love him myself but I fear he would lower the tone of the family show that is SCD)

Not this debate again!

I agree I find some of the routines Bruce is scripted are pretty old hat and not funny. I sometimes think there is so much time wasted on Bruce's little routines, dance routines etc and I would rather see more of the interviews/dancing etc. Tess is a waste of space, just decoration. The dresses this series seem to come from a charity show as most of them do not seem to fit her properly and look like pieces of material pinned together. Bruce looks like Tess' grandfather as he is beginning to look really acient poor man!! Of course you would never get a 70s plus woman comparing a show on today's television!! We are all supposed to die off at 45???!!!.

exactly, there is no debate... You can't beat Brucie for presenting SCD.

Yes he is an old pro', but as someone says earlier, SCD needs someone to act professional at the moment.

No, no, no, no!

You obviously didn't sit in the audience of 5's Company on which he used to be a regular presenter. He was wooden and sycophantic (although not in the same league as Parky for sycophanticness!). And his neck doesn't work, he turns his body to look at people.

Although, to give him is dues, he did a reasonible job on A&E's Simply Ballroom show.

I started this thread saying i was fed up with Bruce, but after his handling of the Karen/Mark situation and the thought of him being replaced by someone worse, i concede that Brucie is an institution - love him or hate him, he can never be replaced and the thought of someone like that washed up has been Julian Clary taking Bruce's place makes me sick.
I say get rid of Tess as she is the dead wood round here. Dead unfunny and totally wooden.

waynebird, congratulations on seeing the light.

As a Bruce fan I can get pretty irate, but I have to agree his jokes can be lame, BUT to me that is part of Bruce's appeal, the jokes are lame and older than tv itself, but surely anyone can realise there is no one alive who can handle the SCD live show anywhere near as well.

IMHO, IF Bruce were not there SCD would have been a disaster as a live show and ended up being a heavily editted dance show with maybe merely the announcement of the losers dared to be done 'live'

If Tess would drop the attitude (Brendan goading and what not) then I could cope with her as she doesn't do much.

Bruce is great though. I say, keep him!

There is only one thing that Tess is going to drop and that's a clanger (did you think that is what i was going to say?) She has a very high opinion of herself, reportedly getting £250,000 for this series and she can only get worse. I think she has a bit of a patronising attitude to Bruce, like he is too old to remember what to do, which is certainly not the case as last week's show has proved he can think on his feet faster than a cheetah. We need to get rid of the scripted stuff and keep it off the cuff.
