latest in my string of problems...

the latest in my string of problems with this unit is when exiting the TV guide i'm left with a blank screen and just audio, the only way to watch the channel is to power the unit on & off. Has anyone found a quickfix for this problem?

Have you upgraded the disk or is this an unmodified DHD4000?

I think that I may experienced this problem at some time.
As I recall I found that going into the menu and back out again brought the display back to life.
Hope this helps.

I sometimes get this if the channel is come out to is currently off-line.
Does anything happen if you move up or down a channel?

...and if that wasnt annoying enough, it happened while i was watching a channel just now! (wasnt even in a menu or anything) had to unplug the box to get a picture back

could be linked to the SP/LP thing, i selected some bits to convert to LP the other day and the problems seem to be more often.

No wonder they dont make these anymore, i'd sell it if I didnt feel sorry for whoever might end up with it!

Which version of the software is active on your box? The unstable state you are describing sounds a bit like the old (1.7.7) version.

Version 2.3.9 is generally fine in a box which has no fault, so it is not a problem inherent in the DHD4000 as a whole.

I've been getting similar problems but only on playback so far (I don't watch TV through the DVR as my TV is already digital), seems to be a few of these happening at the mo?

its 2.3.9. It was fine for quite a while but now is just falling on its arse every day. It kept popping up the message requesting a software update at 5am (not 3!) the other day and turning its self off no matter what i press!

The people i bought it from offered a 12 month warranty so their getting it back I saw a nice topfield one for about £120 more, thats 160gb has a USB & sky style menu (addon) which looks good, so now im just waiting to get rid of it...

I have had it a few times as well. My one came from Argos with the new 2.3.9 firmware. Changing channels just bring up a blank screen again.

I usually just turn it on and off or go into the menu and then out of it to sort it out.
