"Then, about four years ago, a friend told me about MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). This is a naturally occurring form of sulphur, which helps maintain cartilage and joints. I thought it was worth a go — but I was amazed to find that after a few months my feet and hands ached less than they did."

I wondered if you'd heard about it and if it's worth a try.”

I did see it and wondered whether to give it a go.I have almost no cartilage left on inside side of knees so don't know what it would do to help that but will take the name to health shop at some point and but some. Will you try it?

Anyone know where I can go to find my willpower?Have given to the' yummy munchies' in for the 2nd day in a row.....

I am going to a Health Food shop tomorrow to see if they have any. It's not so much trying to keep the cartilage but stopping the pain which it is supposed to be good for. I'll try it for a few weeks and see. Been reading about it on the internet and if you believe what it says, it cures just about everything!

I suspect your willpower is hiding in the same place as mine - in the fridge

I will try go and get the MSM tomorrow or friday(Will have to write it down as I'll never be able to say it).Has to be worth a go.I have to say my knee pain has eased up so much that I knelt on the floor at work today and fell over sideways as I'd forgotton it isn't possible and the pain hit like a ton of bricks!!

The good news is I've searched every cupboard in house and I have no junk to eat tonight. If only tomorrow could go so easily....

It is very good, has recipies for Croissants and French bread and loads of tips. Worth a look, I have done some of the recipies out of it. All based on the principle of drink and eat what you like, but in moderation.

Thanks for this Coody Mow

I don't think that will work for me either.
I think I will join the strictly come dieters thanks.
I'm weighing myself in the morning, I know it's going to be huge. It might be a good idea to reveal it though the shame will motivate to lose more.

But the encouragement you'll get will be worth it. I have found it very motivating to have everyone saying well done when you lose a couple of pounds. And the exercise is definitely helping

My first week and I've lost 5 and a half pounds! Very pleased with myself, so celebrated with a few glasses of wine. Back on the straight and narrow today though. Have a long way to go ..

My goodness! Well done. Keep up the good work. Were you doing anything special to lose that much or was it just lots of exercise and eating less

No exercise as yet but it's this diet where you eat little nibbles every 15 mins. I do mean little. Tiny pieces of red pepper, other days it can be chicken. Other than that, it's quite a strict low carb, high protein, low fat diet, the usual stuff. But I have tried Weighwatchers in the past, and it has done nothing for me. Slimming World was OK, but weight loss agonisingly slow. So I'm hoping this one will give better results.

Saggy1, I found MSM in Holland & Barrett - both capsules and powder. They also do a combined Glucosamine and MSM capsule, so it's obviously quite popular. Bought some of the capsules so will try them out.

Hope the MSM helps Claire on Saturday doing the Samba!

Thanks Force ten.Didn't get to shops tomorrow. Will try tomorrow. If they work I could be doing a Samba!! I haven't tried the Glucosamine as could never pronounce that one in shop either!Lots of people have told me to try it though(you included I think).

Failed in my mission not to eat wrong stuff again today.Really must get head back in the zone....Not even been a stressful week at work either!I don't think I'll be admitting to weight gain at Mon weigh in

Well done cissy scouse.Great start.Keep it up.

Hi Saggy. Not quite up to high kicks just yet, but have to say that the knee is feeling a lot better. I'm sure its only psychological as I've only been taking the MSM for 2 days, but it really is a lot less painful.

Will have to weigh in tomorrow morning as off for the weekend (to stay with friends of Matthew Cutler's parents so I'll see if I can get any gossip!). Have been fairly good this week, so hope I've actually lost some weight.

Well done loz.

Brilliant.

I have had a bad week due to alot of stuff going on that made me put the diet to the back of the queue, however, haven't put any on. And will be salsacising again properly from tomorrow, so good luck saggy!

Well done loz. I have managed to lose 3 lbs this week, which makes up for the fact I put on a pound last week, so I've lost 4 lbs altogether since this thread started.

Well done Coody Moo,I believe the correct term for that is maintaining.....Something we will all have to learn to live by when we all reach our goals!!(thinking positively...).Have fun with the salsacing.
Given I've eaten every carb that waved at me this week after 3 months without, I don't think my body has told my head about the fact that I should have relearnt my eating behaviour and be pigging out on the healthy stuff through choice!!lol.
Still to watch DVD as housework took over but I still call that a form of exercise even if it's the most boring kind. Will go investigate after I've watched the repeat of last night.

Bloody well done Force ten.

Gardening, housework, etc, they all count as exercise Saggy.

i have reached a plateau and am fed up, especially as a mate has lost two stone in a month and it has taken me 5 to lose the same, but I did that 6 years ago and put it all back on, and this time i am so determined. I need to lose at least 3 more stone to not be overweight for my build, and I don't care how long it takes as long as I do it.

One tip, or what i have been doing, is that i take it one goal at a time. I think by christmas day I will be a certain weight, then another by valentines day, etc. i never think of the weight I want to end up at..it does help.

Doesn;t matter how long it takes as long as you get there. that's my motto.

I have been doing the same thing CM.I have gone for a new stone group at a time and originally had Xmas/my Bday as a time frame but as I'm liking how I'm starting to look I'm thinking Easter.....
I too have reached the plateau stage but I think our body needs time to catch up with itself at some point.Keeping motivated is the main thing and the chat on here and advice is all good for that so thank you all.
And I don't think 2 stone in a month can be good for a body or heart....
Force Ten
26-11-2006
I agree. 2 stone in a month is far too quick a weight loss and will probably go back on again very quickly. One loses muscle rather than fat losing weight that fast, and never forget that the heart is a muscle! I've always been told that if you lose weight slowly then it's better for your body because it has time to adjust and you are unlikely to put it back on again too quickly. As long as you both keep exercising then the plateau will end soon.

Have just tried(and I mean tried!!) doing the salsacise dvd section 1!whey it's fun!Iam so unco-ordinated but I presume that'll come.lolI have broken out in a sweat.Unheard of.lol!!!!

How often do you do the dvd Coody Mow?No wonder you say it shifts weight. Will move the furnitue before I try again.Might move further then and work up more of a sweat!!

Force Ten, it only make the knee squeal once and I probably was moving leg wrong to try and get the steps!!Did my own steps a fair few times.

I am sitting here giggling having realised I'll NEVER be a dancer of any sort.lol.No need to go embarrass myself in public then.he he.
