Force Ten,sorry to hear things conspiring against you.Look deep for an inner strength that we all possess but forget it's there sometimes(or in my case pretend it's not there if I fancy junk!!lol).I have been shocked at finding the times I get the munchies.Never realised I'm so emotionally driven! Chew gum....Any changes to your knee.I bought the pills today.Rather large .

cissy scouse, woweeee, well done.Let it be your inspiration to keep going with determination.

quackaquack, the time warp acutally fits in with some of the dance steps in the salsacise dvd very well!!lol. I think I'm 2 weeks into the dvd and am almost at a point where I can do it without losing the thread. What other video did you buy?

Coody Mow I've realised I've only been writing down the last 2 weeks weight loss so will have to go back to start of thread and work through to see how far off your challenge I am.Will you be posting a results thread??I hope not ...lol.

Have a good week all.Keep........determined!

Well done with the huge weight loss for loads of you, and those struggling..I struggled last few weeks and am back on track now. It is swings and roundabouts.

I always think of the hare and the tortoise.

It is not how long it takes, as long as you get there in the end.

Saggy, hope you are miles on track but i have no hard or fast date (maybe when I lose a stone?) Glad we are all loving salsa cising. For the poster who asked how hard it is (sorry, it was on the end of a page or so ago so have forgotten who) it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I was crap first but can wiggle my hips now.

Hopefully a dance teacher who knows more than me, can come on here and tell you exactly how to do the basic salsa steps.

That's good, as I am quite skilled at the Time Warp!

The DVD I already have is called "Learn to dance with John and Charlotte". It's by Charlotte Jorgensen, a professional dancer, and John O'Hurley, who was in the first season of Dancing With The Stars (Charlotte was his partner). It also has six other professional dancers in it. I haven't yet tried doing it (Wednesday will be the first time I can run through it the whole time as I am in uni tomorrow and only got it today), but I've heard nothing but good things about it, and I've watched it through once and it seems really really good.

The other DVD I am currently looking at is called, imaginatively, "Salsa for beginners".

I was doing the Time Warp on Friday when I went to see the Rocky Horror Show! A bright point in an otherwise cr*p week. Thanks for the good advice Saggy. Hopefully this week will be a little better although not sure on the food front as my boss is taking me out to dinner on Wednesday and I'm out to dinner on Friday and as for next week - either I give up breakfast and lunch altogether or give up the idea of dieting until the madness is all over (Christmas, that is). It seems to be one "do" after another.

BTW Saggy, the knee is definitely a lot easier - I think the MSM pills are doing some good

Try for eating just cereal for breakfast and lunch and whatever fruit you want on days you are going out for dinner... and bunches of water Whenever you feel hungry drink a glass of water before grabbing something.. it will make the hunger go away for a bit longer! And if you are hungry... have more cereal. All that stuff is fibre and will go straight through you body and not hang on like fat.

Did you like The Rocky Horror Show? I saw the new production earlier this year and enjoyed it but didn't like the new set. I saw Suzanne Shaw and she surprised me and was really good as Janet.

Hi Sophie!
There must be some formuties out there who have lost weight since starting dancing!!! I'm not one of them as I dance already but people do lose weight from getting active! Not perhaps as much as Lesley Garrot or the other celebrities do on SCD but that is because they are intensely working for hours every day! I find the ladies in my classes get bored at the gym and use dance as their means of exercise and can achieve a wonderful skill at the same time! We have a Lady's Solo Latino Class which is aimed at getting fit while learning latin american dance moves. The ladies get a good workout every week!

Speak up all you "Strictly Come Dieters" who have lost weight and are dancing!

Hi Sophie.

That us a nice idea, maybe you should start a new thread about it as some people who may have lost weight by dancing, may not come on this thread, as they don't need to diet anymore! I have not ballroom danced since I was about 17, but I am sure someone here has lost weight through ballroom dancing and will reply.

Great idea re the cereal Peach. Thanks for that. I think the only day off I have next week is Tuesday! (rushes off to buy boxes of cereal to keep in the office)

Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the Rocky Horror Show. Saw it last Friday in Richmond, but like you, I didn't like the new set (having seen it several times over the years ). But you're right, Suzanne Shaw did surprise me. I never thought much of her in Hear Say, but she was very good in this.

Force Ten,add an apple into that for a change sometimes. With a low fat probiotic yogurt for all round health!!
My knee is very sore this week and I've started on pills!I am hoping it's not 'cos of doing the dvd every day.I think it's 'cos I've been on feet all day for last 3 days with cooking for and attending kids Birthday partiesThe knee has been off standing and walking for a long long time.

Been able to not nibble on the yummies at parties though so feel proud of that.Even ate my salad at one of them which amazed people! Not too sure I'll be able to behave at Xmas though!

I'm a pound off Coody Mows challenge so hopeful of making it by the final!!

Tried my DVD for the first time today...I don't think my shoes helped (flat rubber soled shoes plus carpet equals lots of headfirst dives into the couch) but it's either those, hiking boots or high heels, so I don't have much of a choice

DVD was good, though. I only did the Cha Cha today, but I went over it and over it (and over it!) I have a bit too much work to do for uni tomorrow to practice something new, but I'll try and make some time to go over what I did today. And I bought the salsa video that I was thinking about buying before, so hopefully that will come in the next week or so.

Shan't lose a stone before the final, since I started late and then got sick (typical ) but I'm hoping for five pounds at least

Blimey..you are doing better than me!

I am letting myself off this week. I have been up all night wth the cricket and sleeping all day and my....how shall I put it...backside is suffering.

I just know in a few days I will be MUCH lighter.

Truely, that is fabulous, and for those of us who can't do it (and did I mention first one to the challenge buys the rest of the thread a drink?) let's go for January the first.

Saggy, truely, I am in awe of you and well done, hats off and everything.

Bravo.

Did I say I'd nearly hit target????????

I wil gladly buy everyone a virtual drink with my virtual money!

I celebrate a '0' birthday on 30th and will have a drink for each and every one of you that night!
I;m going back to my roots and staying with my oldest friend(30 years friendship) she hit the '0' in Oct so basically it helps me think I'm still nice and young.
That was one reason for me starting diet in first place as Liz Hurley says weight is harder to shift once you hit 40 !I have lost 3 and a half stone now so 3 more will suit me fine and dandy.

I do think I'll have put weight back on over Xmas and Birthday as have no plans to deny myself a bit of what i fancy!!

I talked to someone today who lost a fair amount of weight over summer and has kept it off by being really good during week and allowing herself takeaways etc at the weekends. She has like me cut out the major carbs and I think this is a great way of maintaining so thougt I'd share...

For some reason, barefoot didn't come to me. Bit of a stupid moment, I think

Has anyone tried this site? It looks good to me, but like I say, I don't know much about dancing.

Oh.. and I know lots of people tut at the idea.... but the Slimfast shakes are good to keep you going too - the new Smoothies are particularly nice! I don't follow their plan ... but when I am at work and teaching all day I often have one to keep me going.... it's got lots of the right vitamins etc in it as well. I think if you combine them with the cereal.. it makes more variety And keep drinking the water

Edit: Meant to say.. the small boxes of cereal (the one portion packs) are great for picking at... you dont' even need milk (depending on which one you have chosen)...they can act like sweets

Hello all ... it's my weigh in day, and I'm not feeling so confident. I have kept to the plan (apart from overdoing the wine at Karen's Christmas Ball ) but I just don't feel any lighter this week. This is my PMT week so maybe down to that (can't believe I'm sharing this over the internet, but hardly anyone reads this thread, do they?).

Anyway, the scales will tell the truth later today Wish me luck. I need to lose another 3 and a half pounds before the final to get to Moody's goal. Rather more in 2007 though.

quackaquacka, have you tried out the new dvd?If so how did it go?
I went shopping today for Xmas outfit and OMG I am amazed.I still had to but a 18/20 top to accomodate bust but fitted easily into a 16 bottom.I am so proud of the way I look in the clothes.perhaps this year I won't try to blend into the background where ever I am as I don't feel such a fat blob!Looking forward to Christmas now I'm suited and booted!
