Patsy Palmers first dance aerobics video weight from a few years back is one of the best ones I have

because it works!

I have Tracy Shaws Salsacise was rubbish. While it's fun it's way too easy!

Only just saw this!

Ahh after my time then.

I wish I'd been brave enough to find a new partner and carry on! Never mind

Which video is that?? Sorry if I'm being thick but just been trawling the thread and only found reference to the one that's supposed to be easy

Though if I find the "easy" one second hand I might invest, something a bit easier at the moment might be a good thing!

Think they are referring to Salsacise dvd by rosemary conely on amazon.

do any of you know what impact salsa would have on my dud knee(no cartalige left)?have looked at dvd and reviews sound good.

Ahhh thanks saggy

Sorry, can't help with the knee thing

Does it teach actual salsa type steps, people? Reading the reviews of the other one it sounds like it's barely related to salsa which seems a pity.

Which one is the best, does anyone know??

I think this is a great thread! Congrats to everyone that has lost or is trying to loose weight. I know how hard it can.

When I graduated from uni I weighed 14 stone 6 pounds (I'm 5 foot ten) and I just felt really bad about myself due to the amount of alcohol and crap food I'd been eating. I'd been overweight all thourgh uni, and tried to loose weight but not been successful, I even joined the rowing team, and whilst I learnt to row the weight stayed on. (Alcohol factor I think)

But you can do it! I now weigh 12 stone 7 (BMI 25.1) which means I still have someway to go but I know I'll get there. it's about finding something that's right for you. So keep going everyone!

It is the Rosemary Conley Salsacise DVD that I have. It has an easy level of 20 minutes, then a harder level of 30 then an even harder one...and few toning things too.

I am no expert on knees, but in the video there is one person who does an easier step that you can follow if you can't do the really 'salsa...ery' stuff!.

It is mainly side to side and front to front...cha cha cha's, grapevines, that kind of thing...as well as pivots, and all done to salsa music....and after a bit you start to wiggle your hips alot which is what Rosemary wants you to do! It seems to be more about the hips and getting a bit out of breath than anything technical.

I am crap at exercise but really enjoy this, but don't take my word for it. I am sure someone can tell you guys more.

I am losing weight on it along with the diet though....so I reccomend it.

Me neither an expert!

Cha cha cha is basically (re:Rosemary) just wiggling your hips and feet to the cha cha cha each side.

A pivot means you just turn aroung slowly (wiggling hips) on the spot...and a grapevine is to walk from side to side, facing frontways, oh..I can't describe it..you do it to some soul 80's songs!

I am sure a dance teacher here can tell you better....anyway..I have two left feet, and they are dead easy to do.

It really is not hard...but does make you out of breath. (I am not working for her btw..just her methods have made me lose alot of weight!) It really is just wiggly hips and alot of staying in the same spot but moving your feet.

I am making no sense.

Dance teachers..help!

Sounded good to me

A grapevine is 3 steps to the side usually:- side R, cross L behind R, side R and finish with a tap/jump/clap... then repeat the other way.

What a lovely thread. Yep I am one of the gang, fighting the bulge constantly and it is a bit like being an alcoholic insofar as when you decide to eat off the plan, so to speak, before you know it you are half a stone heavier!! I was so fed up as I stopped going to Weight Watchers as it is getting so expensive (they have put the price up AGAIN) and I sometimes think I am a bit mad if I have to pay someone to weigh me each week in order to shift a few lbs!! We have 80 women in our group here in Cologne and it is just too big of a group. You have to attend about an an hour before the class begins in order to be weighed in time and then we hear the same old thing, drink water and exercise and people ask the most daft questions about the point system so it has not inspired me but YOU have. I had lost one and a half stone but have put five lbs back so I am now on track cos of your thread and feel very motivated. Thanks SO much. I am today 10.5lbs 5ft 2inches and 55 years old (young!!). I am off and running!!

Having a quick look at the forums while having lunch (salad)! I too gave up on WW as the group was just too big. I need to lose weight to help my knee so any encouragement is appreciated. I can usually manage to follow a diet, but don't exercise as I sit at a computer all day long at work and don't get home till about 8.00pm by which time I'm too knackered, but this thread is making me want to do something. I shall get up a bit earlier tomorrow morning and give the DVD a go!

Glad the thread has motivated you! Good luck with the weight loss! We won't even charge you any money!

Really we could do with SCD on all year! It would keep us motivated LOL!
