Gosh, Anton is very harsh pontificating about a subject at a very simplistic level. Why do people think they can criticise weight issues in a way that would seeem totally crass if brought up about other personal attributes. Obesity is NOT just a personal problem with a simple 'stop feeding yourself' answer. That would be easily solved, Anton.

It must be that time of the year, because I spent sometime clearing out my wardrobe. My charity shop clothes go up to size 22 tops and size 18 trousers. I'm currently wearing size 14/16 tops and size 10!!!! trousers . I have two or three different styles from Next/M&S and a sports shop, which is lovely but I'm sure there must be SOME size inflation going on since I last bought a size 10.”

Whoo hooo! Size 10, fantastic, if I manage to get down to size 12 I'll be delighted!

I'm ok until it's opened then can't stop. I have a million unopened Easter Eggs here. Should take them to the charity shop!

A million, goodness

I've got one to go and need to dispose of before I start the diet and yes I know it's counter productive and I'm old enough to know better - but that's the way it is

A tip to avoid being given Easter eggs (I know this doesn't help now, but for future reference).

I actually don't believe in Easter eggs. Easter eggs are for children. I would never deprive a child.

But the chocolate tastes the same no matter what shape it's in and how much packaging it has. As an adult I understand this. I think they're a waste of money.

After years of communicating this position to everyone I know, no-one buys me eggs. Or any chocolate.

I did cave this year and buy myself a small Lindt bunny, but only becuase my OH was in a mood about the snow and I wanted to cheer him up, and there was a special deal for two...

I'm the same - as long as it's nicely sealed I'm fine, I can forget about it. Soon as it's open - it's gone!

Quite a few people who might otherwise give me eggs get me other things these days... I've had money, notecards and bath salts this Easter. I also have two Lindt bunnies but at least they're nice chocolate not crappy (not worth gaining weight for Dairy Milk IMO!) and I shall be leaving them unopened looking pretty on my piano for as long as I can!!

I'm a teacher. They come from the kids at the end of term. If it's not chocolates it's flowers and I don't have enough vases!

Please don't let what that cretin said put you off dance lessons. I started ballroom classes a couple of months ago with a friend of mine. As there are no single guys we end up dancing together, we're the heaviest in the class, yet the two best dancers there (if I say so myself )

So get out there and get dancing, I'm telling you you'll love it

Maybe you're right, it's just that I spend a fortune on clothes and I have so many now that are too big, that the bags may as well have money symbols on them!

Hello everyone, I've been catching up with this thread.

Firstly, I'd like to give hearty congratulations to everyone who's seen any amount of success this year no matter how small, and I'm pleased to say this includes myself. It's down to a combination of things: Eating slighly less and more healthily, low fat and lots of veg/fruit/salad, cutting out booze ( except occasionally for a treat ), doing a bit more excercise (especially dancing!), and trying to come up with a regime that can be sustained.

Secondly, I'd like to try and encourage those who aren't feeling so good about it. It CAN be done, but it's got to be in a sustainable manner. A little more excercise, even gentle stuff like walking, dancing etc not only makes you feel better but it's enjoyable and therefore easy to continue. It's about getting into new habits and breaking old ones I find.

Thirdly, I'd like to say I find myself agreeing with Camilla and don't think Anton's comments were very well thought out. Thus speaks someone who has no idea, unlike Camilla. She's right in that you can get used to new and different things. If you think you don't like something, you have to keep trying it and you can re-educate your palate to learn to like healthy stuff. But you MUST keep a balanced diet. I went on a spa break recently, and the diet the advocated was 25% protein, 25% carbs, and 50% fruit/veg/salad. And try to have a mixture at every meal.

So well done and keep up the good work. And don't let anyone put you off dancing!

Well I've taken the plunge (thanks to Anton) and have signed up with a Slimming World class as I was getting nowhere with WW. I had got bored with trying to count points all the time. I'd rather go for something where I don't have to count anything. I shall see how it works. And I have resurrected my exercise bike which was gathering dust in a corner. I'm determined to crack it this time and FINALLY get this extra weight off. It's so depressing if I catch sight of myself in a shop window and I avoid mirrors as much as possible and hide every time anyone gets a camera out. I can't carry on living like this, so SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!! So thanks, Anton, for providing the spur I needed to get me going again!

Congratulations to everyone who's managed to lose weight since Christmas (and before!) and hopefully I'll be joining you before too long

Is nobody else trying to lose weight at the moment. Thread had almost got lost!

I've lost half a stone so far and finding this diet quite easy to follow although a bit complicated to start off with.

Hope the reason no-one else is posting on this thread is that they've either already lost the weight or are doing really well.

I am trying. Having made a bold start after Anton appointed himself head of the fat police, I have struggled, but 3llb so far has gone.

But today I have been on a GD thread about fat girls looking good, where the fat police raided, and it inspired me to try harder, so I have been out for a 2mile run, and feel fabulous for it!

And Slimming world can do wonders, as you never need to feel hungry. I just find it hard to follow while I am at work, with few outlest doing anything that is purely red or purely green! (and I like to save my sins for a drinky!)

I'm lucky in that respect because I work at home so I don't have to worry about going out and buying my lunch. And like you, I tend to save my syns for a glass of wine or three

Well done.

I've been plugging away at my weight. Achieved my goal of having a BMI in the Ideal range a couple of weeks ago so really proud of myself. So only half a stone to go.

Absolutely brilliantly well done everyone! Gritty...well done you...I cannot wait to get to my proper BMI. And keep going Jack and everyone...we can all do it!

RL got in the way again, so apologies for not being about. I lost my other little cat a few weeks ago FT (having gone on to you before about losing my other little cat) .....so it set me back a bit. I'd had them both for 15/16 years. It ain't half lonely at home now.

On the plus side I finally cracked 4 stone lost a week ago....only just under 2 stone to go. My size 16 trousers are falling down now....amazing when I think that 2 years ago I was in size 22's!!!! I fitted into size 14's top and bottom this week...that felt GOOD!

If I can do this any of you bloody can. Thanks to you guys and Rosemary, I'm getting there!

Take care all of you and KEEEEEEEEEEEP Dieting!

I was doing really well lost nearly a stone but it all went down hill when I started teaching practice. Had no energy to cook healthy food when I get in and have no time to go to the gym. Its all about to start again tomorrow for another placement

However I have no food in the house so my breakfast and lunch tomorrow is rice cakes, hard sweets from a holiday in Aug for sugar and if the worst comes to the worst a slima-soup - they're absolutly disgusting

Coody so sorry to hear about your little cat. It must be very strange at your home now without any pusscats around. I only have one left now and she's around 17 or 18, very deaf and only has three teeth left but seems to be ok otherwise.

I'm doing great on SW and have lost 9.5 pounds so far in four weeks. At last I have found a diet that really suits me! It'll probably all get ruined this weekend as I'm going to Cornwall for a few days, but I know I can get back on track again as soon as I get back.

I can now do my trousers up so I'm beginning to see the difference. I know it's a going to be a long haul - I'm allowing at least a year - but I'm going to keep at it, slow and steady as that's what all the experts advise. I've always tried to go for the quick weight loss in the past and then promptly put it all back on again, so this time I'm hoping it will work.

Good luck to all dieters on the forum.

Hi Camber
Thanks for the support - but I'll always have space for a cocktail (or two)

CM
I'm impressed, we've been on a same journey! I've lost around 4 stone. Two years ago I was struggling to wear size 22 tops (now size 14) and size 20 trousers (now size 10 - honest).

PT
Keep going, we'll always be here for you

FT
Loads of support for you, its great when you find a diet that works. I have a couple of friends who have been successful with SW.

Can I just be a very proud mummy for a moment, my daughter has lost a stone and a half, found a new job and has never looked more beautiful. She was so excited when she went to a store and, having previously been unable to get into a size 16, found that the dress she wanted she needed a size 12.

When she described the dress, I just couldn't imagine it, mint green crushed silk, strapless with a boned corset and a knee-length full layered skirt - but when she walked out wearing it I was just blown away. She looked gorgeous and she knew it and that confidence and delight shone through her eyes. OK, proud mummy moment over.
