I'm impressed, we've been on a same journey! I've lost around 4 stone. Two years ago I was struggling to wear size 22 tops (now size 14) and size 20 trousers (now size 10 - honest).

Keep going, we'll always be here for you

Loads of support for you, its great when you find a diet that works. I have a couple of friends who have been successful with SW.

Can I just be a very proud mummy for a moment, my daughter has lost a stone and a half, found a new job and has never looked more beautiful. She was so excited when she went to a store and, having previously been unable to get into a size 16, found that the dress she wanted she needed a size 12.

When she described the dress, I just couldn't imagine it, mint green crushed silk, strapless with a boned corset and a knee-length full layered skirt - but when she walked out wearing it I was just blown away. She looked gorgeous and she knew it and that confidence and delight shone through her eyes. OK, proud mummy moment over.”

oh Gritty how absolutely lovely! You enjoy your mummy moment for all you are worth!

there is nothing better in the entire world.

I had a similar moment this week when my son who is 9 had his first football kit of the team he supports. He was having his photograph taken by his daddy in our paddock, posing with the ball - and I had to turn away because I had huge tears in my eyes because my husband had just said "its like looking at me as a boy in MY first kit* - so I understand your mummy moment even if this isn't diet related.

WELL DONE to your daughter! and to all the girls on this thread who have done ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LY - you're all fabulous - and KEEP GOING to where you want to be!

good luck!

Hi gritty - so little gritty is now living up to her name lol The dress sounds lovely, did she buy it for a special occasion?

I'm looking forward to my weekend away but also dreading it in a way as I get back on Tuesday afternoon just in time for weigh in at SW and I somehow think it's not going to be good. I can't go to two birthday parties (identical twins - one party each lol) and not drink and that's always been my downfall in the past.

Ah well, have to wait and see what Tuesday brings.

I have two daughters and this is the eldest (little gritty, if she's reading, is my youngest and also gorgeous).

Definitely bought for a special occasion, she's been invited to be her friends bridesmaid. Reasonably special until you hear that its a beachside wedding in the Bahamas in a 5* inclusive hotel - and all my daughters expenses are being paid for two weeks

It's not the bridesmaid dress, but she wanted a few special dresses for the evening. My only concern is that she wants to lose some more weight to get to her ideal - if she manages (and I think she will) this dress could be too big!!

But just sometimes putting on a dress makes you so happy you just have to buy it - I think this was one of those dresses

It sounds great. I went to a beachside wedding last year on Mauritius in a 5* hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. There were only about 10 of us there but we had a great time. Didn't need too many posh frocks though - it was too hot!

Being strapless, short and silk, I think it will be ok.

Just thought I'd pop by and see how everyone is doing. I think I'm losing weight as I went to the cinema the other day and didn't feel too cramped in the seat, either that or odeon have got wide bum seats!!!!!

Now it's summer I feel more like eating salads (well lettuce as I don't like other salad stuff) and less chocolate, because it melts too easily!

I can't remember if I've already mentioned this but my sister is offically allowing me to be bridesmaid at her wedding in Jan so I really want to knuckle down again and get back in to the diet frame of mind and less of the takeaway pizza mind!

Revision is bad for the diet, it makes you hungry.

As soon as I'm home from uni and get decent meals and can do stuff I can try and lose some weight.

Hello everyone,

I got directed to this thread by Pickled Tink, so I just thought I'd introduce myself to you. I only joined this site yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to look through the thread yet. However, I've lost almost 3 stones in the last year, so anything & anyone that will help me stay on the straight & narrow has got to be a good thing.

Good luck to anyone about to start their diet, & well done to those already on their way to achieving their goal.

Just thought I'd introduce myself and well done to everyone so far, just been reading through a few pages and you all have done fantastic!

Welcome spanielsears and welcome back nelli.

I definitely need support. Maintaining weight loss is sooooooo difficult.

Congratulations to everyone who's managed to lose weight since Christmas (and before!) and hopefully I'll be joining you before too long”

Hi, I know you posted this ages ago, but I wonder how you are getting on with the SW regime? I finally signed up to SW last week, nagged by workmates who started in March, all were losing lots of weight (I had many excuses not to join them), I lost 5.5 lbs first week by taking it seriously but celebrated by having a bread roll after first weigh in, I have had bread 3 times since then. Bread and cheese are major weaknesses, I can eat 28g cheese without thinking, just a sample. I want to save my syns for gin at weekends.

I find on Green days, I am fine, then suddenly, very, very hungry. None of my colleagues have this problem, I had so many other questions (about free foods) I did not mention this at the meeting. Is it just me?

Spanielsears, I found this thread from your post on GD, thank you. Well done on getting back in control, you are way ahead of me on the weight loss, maybe a thread on decluttering is next?

Hi Mazey

I have lost 10.5 pounds so far and find the diet really easy to follow. I stick mostly to green days as I've never been a great meat eater. I did find it difficult restricting my bread intake at first but you do get used to it. If you get suddenly hungry then eat! You can eat so much from the free foods list that you should never need to feel hungry again. There is a really good site which will answer all your questions about SW and I don't mean the SW site although that's good too. This is a forum which is really helpful. Try www. minimins. com (leave out the spaces!) and join up. You'll find me mostly on the SW threads.

Thanks FT, I will check that site out tomorrow. Well done on 10.5 loss, like you I am aiming at steady, long term loss, it took me years to accumulate, I am way past 5 days on the Mayo Clinic diet being the solution.

Sorry to just pop in but so disappointed with this today....

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...1#post24132323

I love Fern and kept telling everyone how well she had done and I wish i could do as well.....I guess I could if I had a band and didn't tell anyone? It's the not telling anyone I am mad about.

CM, be proud of YOUR achievement, you have done really well on your own willpower and perseverance. That is so much better than having to resort to surgery, twice, if you count getting the band removed.

When you reach your target you will be able to control any gain easily as you have learned how to do it. I work with someone who lost a lot of weight about 2 years ago, she has maintained her lower weight and is our inspiration.

FT, I looked at the other forum, it seems very established, no newby thread. I bottled out.

I was a newby there only five weeks ago! Just join in - it's great.

I was a bit disappointed at Fern Britten's confession to having had gastric band surgery. I really thought she was doing it herself. Ah well, be interesting to see how she manages once it's been removed!

CM you have done really well without the help of surgery and starting this thread was a great idea.

Thanks FT and Mazey.

I still think she looks fab, but am disappointed in a celeb you kind of felt empathy with and that you could trust...hey ho!

Well done all of you n your weight loss, and well done FT for finding a new way of doing it.....I will have been on my diet 2 years tomorrow...slow and steady is the way I believe....so if I can do it, anyone can.

Keep dieting!

That is brilliant FT! I am so pleased for ya..I know how hard it is, but if a lazy old bag like me can do it...so can you who is not a lazy old bag like me!!!!

You have given us all so much support on here. Your news has made my day.

Are you still doing a diet diary for yourself...that is what has kept me on the straight and narrow.

I am so pleased for you!

Yes I do a diet diary every single day. It's become a habit now and it really does help.

I haven't noticed much difference so far, but friends have said I'm beginning to look a bit thinner, so it must be working.

And I'm off to an exercise class tonight for the first time in years. It's our class leader's personal trainer and he's doing an exercise routine for about 8 of us from the class over the next 4 weeks - twice a week. Will I survive? Watch this space.....
