The diet diary is a great idea, I've started one today! Find myself having one treat too many these days so hopefully seeing it in black and white will help me put a stop to it

Hello everyone here, just thought I'd introduce myself as have had possibly the biggest shock of my life when I went on the scales for the first time in 3 weeks after a holiday! I had guessed I may have put on a few pounds but the actual amount seems ridiculous in such a short space of time!
Have resolved to start a food diary like FT mentioned and also record my exact weight (not just a roundabout figure that usually errs on the lower end of my actual weight!) and also my measurements as well.
I've realised I really need to take control of what I'm eating as I've usually advocated if you want that second biscuit have it and don't think about it but unfortunately htis isn't doing much for my health or waistline! At this point it's either lose a stone or but a new wardrobe with everything a size bigger! Unfortunately can't afford the latter!
Hopefully this will help me stay on track and will read back in the thread for any tips!!
Congratulations to all on their weight loss!

Hi Chauncy - I had the same problem, only it was spread (literally) over a couple of Christmases! I've been going to Weight watchers the past few months and there are quite a few there who reckon the journal really works.

I've been doing the points and I'm now just 2lbs away from target. It really helped me focus on eating healthily.

Good luck!

Hello all! hi Chauncey!

Been so busy with cricket and BB, am struggling to lose anymore weight and got down to my lowest for 15 years only to add 5 pounds. But will get it off!

Keep on with the diet diary everyone, it is a huge help. The day I hit 13 stone, I read all the way back through my diary, and my ups and downs and weight, and i use it like a normal diary now so my moods as well! And it really helped and inspired me to keep going, which is what it is there for. if you go off the straight and narrow, read your diary back and remember how great you felt and what you did, when you were going well! I post photos of me in there too, each time I lose a bit of weight and it's amazing to look back and be inspired!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and keep dieting!

xxx

Hi! Thanks for the welcome!
Have managed to lose 3lb (another 2 and a half to go!!) so far just by cutting out a lot of the sugary and high-calorie confectionary type things. Now I'm trying to start eating more healthily while avoiding a "diet", if that makes sense. I'm trying to make more lifestyle choices as opposed to eat this, don't eat that. I'm hoping that will help me stick to it a bit more. Also someone told me to imagine eating a plate of hair whenever I feel like snacking! Can't really exercise at the moment as asthma and allergies have flared up.
Thanks for tips on the diary, will definitely try to do that! I'm sure after all you've managed so far, 5lbs will be no bother! Good luck with it anyway!
xx

I've stuck at the moment after losing the first stone. I know exercise would help but my joints are really painful at the moment. Must go back to taking the cod liver oil and chondroitin capsules - they really do help. I haven't given up though so I know the weight will keep coming off slowly.

Just thought I'd pop by to say hi and see how everyone's doing.

I have finally found the ideal thing for me to use instead of missioning it to the gym - Wii Fit. I'm completely addicted but do feel like a bit of a prat using it in the lounge with people walking past my window!!!

Really interested - a huge investment (we'd have to buy the whole thing - not add it on) and I'm not yet convinced. I've looked a couple of times at clips and I was left wanting more for my money.

Any chance you can convince me?

Sorry for the separate post but I'm declaring a 4 stone loss. The Strictly Come Dieting thread definitely helps when I need it.

(I think I might just spend a few moments looking back over my posts on here).

Awhhhhh, memories!!!!

Gritty, that's fantastic! Well done you. I'm stuck at the moment but have been away on holiday for a week and haven't quite got back in the zone since I returned. I shall be getting back to it over the next couple of days once I've eaten all the naughty things in my fridge lol.

Definatly - you can choose the kind of activity you want to do. It starts off simple, 5 min jog around the lounge, simple step aeorbics, then as you use it more you unlock more advanced options, longer running, more difficult yoga moves. The great thing is you do a bit then have to stop and choose something new so you don't feel like its never going to end.

I know it sounds expensive, especailly if you have to buy the whole thing - so why not see if you know anyone who has one that you can play on before committing to buying one.

BTW - congrats on the whopping weight loss - I am so incredibly jealous!!!

It really helps when there's a group of you - I lost 1/2lb a week on average and just hit my target so keep on going - little and often is better and more manageable.

Help! Been in Spain for the last few days and completely over indulged, am up five pounds I'm really annoyed with myself because I'd been doing so well, but there wasn't much else to do where I was other than lie on the beach or eat. Need to knuckle down again now

Well done to everyone who's losing, and wow Gritty, 4 stone is fantastic

OK guys and gals, I think it's time to get the the annual "Lose a Stone by the end of SCD" thread going again.

I manage to do it every year and then put it back on again before the next series starts

This year I'm determined to lose it and keep it off.

Gritty how much have you lost now? You're doing so well. And Coody Mow, how much have you lost altogether?

All those who need to lose some weight, join in
