I currently have a 6.1 Mordaunt Short Genie system (2 Centres & 4 Satalites) and want to upgrade to a 7.1. The way I see it I have two options, anyone know which is best?

1. Move my existing Rear Centre to one side of my room and, buy a new centre for the other side or,

2. Sell my existing rear centre and purchase two new satalite speakers for each side of the room

Finally, if anyone have 7.1 who used to have a 6.1 how impressed are you? Is it noticably improved.

My amp is 7.1 but my speaker setup is 6.1.
I would suggest that all your rear speakers should be the same for best performance,so if the rear right and left are already different to your rear centre then I would try and get another one of either make.
The demos I've tried clearly indicated that 7.1 over 6.1 only made a difference if all 7 of the main speakers were 100% correctly positioned from your listening position,that is equidistant from your seat.
If you are unable to position all 4 rear speakers correctly,I would stick with the setup you have now.
