Okay...

Yep, sure, some of them probably go on to get exposure, I expect some of them go on to get dance lessons from really great teachers, too (I know I would, if I had the chance)

And I do think it's important that the judges are reasonably fair, (and I think the obvious biases this time are a shame) after all another of the aims (I assume/presume/understand) of Strictly is to bring ballroom to a wider audience, educate them about it, and maybe inspire people to take it up... good, fair judges won't do that aim any harm. Judges who are clueless about dancing could well do.

I don't think the all week voting is fair (lots of things about SCD aren't fair), but I'm prepared to live with it for the sake of the show/spectacle that is SCD...

Without people rooting for couple X or being obsessed with pro/celeb Y, SCD wouldn't be what it is (i.e. the only thing on TV that I make time for). If everyone was like me and watched the show without getting involved in it (I don't vote), then SCD would be crap.

I think you put it much better and more succinctly than I mamaged to, CS

SCD isn't perfect or entirely "fair" or whatever, but I love it anyway.

It was Jill's dance talent combined with the exposure that got her the part. Darren Gough got just the same amount of exposure but no-one is rushing to his agent with West End contracts, because he was more reliant on the personality contest element than his dancing.

Incidentally, what happens to the portion of the call cost that doesn't go to Children in Need? Is it a case of "all profits to CIN, minimum 12 p" or does the other 13 p go to the BBC regardless of what it costs to run things? Or does the cash go to a phone company? Just wondering.

The fact that people go on RTV shows for exposure doesn't guarantee them jobs as a result of their exposure. I thought that was just common sense!

I've always got the impression that it says "at least 12p" so probably any extra goes to CiN, could be wrong though.

And guessing the other bit just goes towards having the call centre etc...?

Unless she employs someone to vote for her - she can't. Or at least, you can't from the Netherlands, because Aeryn has tried, so I expect Posh couldn't from Spain, either.
