Nokia 3330 T-Mobile Sim Problem

My Dad has got a Nokia 3330 T-Mobile. It isn't an unlocked phone. Yesterday he got a message pop up "Allow SIM card to send a message?" I pressed cancel. But the message keeps re-appearing every time the mobile is turned back on.

Any ideas?

Simon.

I think you're right as I used to get this now and then on my 3310 years ago.

Thanks, has anyone else got an opinion on the subject?

Yes, I have you've got two choices;

Press yes - as flagpole is quite correct, I get this whenever my T-Mobile sim swops handsets, it's just the sim card talking to the network (or trying to anyway) and it will continue to try to do so until you press yes, which will allow the sim to send a free message to the network, which will then make the message pop ups stop.

Press no - and continue to get the "Allow SIM card to send a message?" pop up every time the phone is switched off and back on.

It's up to you.

Sounds fairly conclusive.

Thanks everyone for you advice.

I did ring T-Mobile yesterday and they told me to delete all the text messages from the outbox and remove the Sim card and Battery for 30 secs and replace them and that should sort the problem.

Sadly the back of the Nokia seems to be welded shut and I can’t get it off. So I think I may have to let it send the message.

But I will give it some thought over the weekend.

Eh??? Right, I'm lost now...

Ok, lets do this step by step; this

won't do any good. Why T-Mobile told you to do that I don't know, as all that is is a "soft reset" which reregisters the phone to the network, which while good to do occasionally isn't a must. Besides, it won't actually stop the "Allow SIM card to send a message?" pop ups - just switching the phone off and on would have the same effect, and you've already done that.

As for this

well, as regards the back of the Nokia - 3330? - pop into a shop or visit a friend who has one and ask them to show you how to take it off. I had the exact same problem way back when I had a Nokia 3310, and that's exactly what T-Mobile customer service advised me to do as "it's very easy to do once you've seen someone else do it"... and they were right - it worked!

As for giving it some thought -

press yes - the free message will send, nothing will happen to the phone, and the pop ups will stop.

press no - the pop ups continue.

My advice? If you want the pop ups to stop, let it send.

You got a few people telling you to just let it send. Are you still thinking about it or have you sent it?

Come on we're all interested.
