Change the Format for the next series

I think for the next Series of SCD there should be a change to the format. Rather than score each dance at the end of the dance why not do all the dances by 9pm then bring all the couples on the dance floor and score them with the judges comments from 9pm. Then we don't have to worry about accidental swearing and the first dance of the evening will get a fair score. In addition, it will be fun to see the leader board build up with all the couples not knowing how they did rather than them all knowing all night where they stand. Tess can still interview each couple when they come off to see how they felt their dance went and the viewers at home would enjoy it more. Then when the results show come on after casualty the format for that can stay the same. All BBC has to do with the first show is ensure it starts so that the dances finish in time for 9pm. The judges would enjoy it more too because they would be able to give fair scores and feel they were giving the right markings and not giving couples to many points and feel they should have marked some-one down or up as per the Craig Emma Louisa debate a couple of weeks ago.

Could they all do the same style of dance ? i.e. Tango one week, Foxtrot next so we can compare them evenly.

Yes I agree with that too!

I think the non-dance fanatics whom the show is largely aimed at would probably thing it was boring.

not a bad either but I feel that some of the voters at home like to vote to save couples they feel might be in danger of going out.

Not entirely sure about your format Selina - but certainly watching all the routines before giving marks would allow the judges to rank the best dancers properly - ie they wouldn't have to mark the first up "safely" so they have room to manoeuvre on the other scores.

Classic example was the too high marks given to Emma & Darren's Jive which meant that in order to (deservedly) score Louisa & Vincent higher they had to give a 10 far too early in the competition.

I just think that for the BBC to allow SCD to come back that need to put some safety nets in. I know it's supposed to be Family Entertainment and I love the show I just think changing the Format will allow more people to enjoy it and give the Judges a better chance at being fair and honest with the scores and their comments!

I'd suggest there'd be little change to the format next year. The BBC will work on the premise; "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Expect another week or so possibly added to the schedule and more couples, also a few "tweeks" to increase the "controversy."
Possibly some glasses of water placed on the judges consul for one of the professionals to throw over somebody... stuff like that.. I'd say the BBC would be delighted with the current mayhem.

Totally agree.

it would be nice to see some proper stars instead of "celebs"

What about Andrew Lloyd Webber or is he too scary to look at for an early evening slot.

I think we the viewers have paid enough money out of our licence fee into the; "Andrew Lloyd Webber Pension Fund."

As I've said before, "after all we've done for him" what's the chance of us seeing even five seconds of his "Sound of Music" on BBC TV?

The cast will change, but the general premise will stay the same. We will have the actor/ess from either Holby, Casualty or Eastenders who will announce a couple of episodes into the series that they have left the show. We'll have a couple of recently retired or recovering from injury sports people, we'll have a breakfast/daytime newsreader/presenters. We'll have the plucky trier, the good one from the start, the hopeless sack of spuds who endears themselves to the public and manages to stay when really they should go. We'll have the shock eviction - just to encourage us to vote more.
These 'reality' shows seem to be better scripted than the soaps!

Sorry, but I don't like that original idea....I don't think the scoring should change! And it won't i doubt! Scoring right at the end really wouldn't work in my opinion!

Maybe go back to twelve couples. I didn't enjoy the first two episodes this series as much.

This I think was a mistake too but it's because the BBC wanted to drag it out.
It's supposed to be a "family show" and most of them don't want to see the sexes separated.

But, "ratings" come first don't they?

I say, scrap it now whilst it's still ahead. Another series will be a series too far in my opinion. I think, however, that if they do bring it back, then sack the band and those awful singers and let's have a good dance band and have 'proper' music to accompany the dancers.

All but Mark and Karen's Salsa last week were absolute rubbish as they weren't even dancing to a quick Salsa rhythm, were they?

As it is, I don't know whether I can maintain my interest in another series of SCD, to be quite honest.

The number of "clones" of this show that the BBC (and ITV) have manufactured beggars belief and just devalues the original, although "Strictly Dance Fever" was entertaining
and it wasn't all "Graham Norton."

Frankly, I didn't think this would be as popular, as last year but it seems more so, despite the "interference" by the BBC. But then if you think again. there's naff all else to watch on a Saturday night is there?

But Oh! for a "proper 40s/50s style big band" that you can see, rather than this little lot "sculking in the shadows."

But they don't exist and to put one together for three months would be extremely expensive.
