No. She's seems enthusiastic, committed and emotional but not at all egocentric and selfish, which 'diva' implies. None of the dancers are where they are without incredible committment, or without loving performing. 'Diva' is just another way of comdemning a woman for having a strong character, and I don't like it even when the behaviour may justify it - I really can't see it at all in Karen. If she was, she'd have been impatient with Bill last year for being not as good as some (I'm not picking on any other dancers particularly) - whereas she clearly adored Bill.

The danger is that Karen and Mark are too good too early and will not have the 'journey' and therefore will not win because people will start resenting them for being good. Which is a shame, but it's just in the nature of these competitions.

I know what you mean I really don't want to lose them now. I don't think he's reached his best yet, after all there's still the American Smooth which I hear has lifts, so that could be his biggest challenge yet.

I think he's had quite a "journey" in terms of finding his confidence... but we'll see I guess.

I hope you're wrong, in the nicest possible way *grin*

He comes across as such a nice guy that maybe he won't cause such resentment, bit like Jill?

*all appedages crossed*

I so badly want them to win......... I haven't ever had such a firm favourite so early before.

Me neither, I want them at the final so much it almost hurts. I know I want to be wrong!

It's not good, is it, to be so invested already? LOL

Argh. I hope they make it to the final at least!

Would be very sad if people stopped voting for them because they were *too* good!!

I think Karen is brilliant! Her tears in the last series were so genuine! She had just had a baby, been out of dancing for so long and I think she was so genuinly grateful to be there! And as she said herself her emotions were all over the place last series!!!! And I took it that she wants to teach the world to dance because it means so much to her and she'd love everyone to feel what she feels! She is fantastic!

From what i have read Karen had to be "persuaded" to come out of retirement, not come out of retirement due to her ego. Karen seems a genuine, confident professional who loves what shes doing and teaching someone who is naturally picking it up is a big plus. If the starter of this thread is looking for a "demanding diva" im sure theres a few of those in the other professional dancers. Karen is doing a fantastic job with Mark and i sincerely hope they go all the way.

I loved Karen's approach with her partner last year - she was so supportive (lets face it Bill wasn't great , but she bought out the best in him) and I haven't been dissapointed this year.

I luv what they are doing and it's not because I fancy Mark Rampakash, cos I don't. I really think currently they are the best and if they continue it will take a lot for the others to beat such a great partnership.

Can't believe I never saw this thread before but the answer is no I don't. I totally idolise the woman and I have met her several times, I go to her classes and parties and NO she is not a diva at all. You don't know her if you think that

As for her teaching the world to dance. I count myself the luckiest person alive to be able to say that I have been taught to dance by her
