Lets get our pink and fluffy forum back to normal!

Yes forums are for discussion of opinions, but this last week it has become slightly manic on here.

Its not nice reading 'hate' messages about any off the celebs or dancers on here (whether they are your favourite or otherwise), especially when they are all giving up their time for charity.

I agree with expressing your thoughts, but please can we be a bit less nasty about it amd remember its all for charity!

I come on here a lot and haven't seen much hate stuff to be honest, perhaps I avoid the big "xxx fan thread" discussions as I know how bad it gets in there !

Its just getting slightly negative on here! Thats what I meant!

There is nothing wrong with a good debate but often it gets taken a little to far!

Someone said "I hate Louisa" on one of the other threads, which was a bit OTT

Yes, anyone saying they "hate" someone they've never even met is a little excessive...

Anyone who is really unfluffy or biased/besotted beyond the capacity for rational thought (or dressed in tinfoil) ends up on my ignore list.

(I've been unfluffy a couple of times, but that was in response to someone wheeled out the dance anorak/you are taking this too seriously argument... grrrrr)

Actually, I thought the fan thread are better as they focus on their favourite without commenting negatively on other people. Of course, it's not pleasant if you'not a fan but otherwise it's harmless. It's the other threads that I worry about.

The fans thread are fine, they do just focus on the individuals qualities - i agree with you

Whilst agreeing entirely with the sentiment of the OP, I am afraid the situation has developed that it is not likely to happen for a while.

We have Jan murdering Craig and all his heirs for her getting axed (source: Daily Mirror, The Sun, The Star etc) and we have the BBC's total inability to seem to be even slightly unbiased to Emma, AND the CIN video connection is just making it too easy for every one to put two and two together. Now whether have got the answer as 4 or 453464, very few are going to be convinced otherwise and it is just too b****y convenient to come to that conclusion, wrong or right.

We have had Brendan having the tantrum to beat all tantrums, cos he is SO passionate.

And still we don't know what is happening for Jimmy's withdrawal.

This forum is obviously very Mark and Karen biased, and those not as convinced are likely to get defensive or unpleasent for their favourites.

Oh and some still think they could do a better job than Bruce Forsyth.

So SCD nice pink fluffy forum is going to ba a fairly ugly place for quite a while. And gawd if anything goes wrong with Mark and Karen I fear this place could turn nasty.

Hamlet, I agree with you 100 per cent.

However, I always thought the fan threads were pink and fluffy. Have wandered onto Ballroom Bill a few times and it's lovely there. Are the others not? Am I missing something?

I am very pleased to say that we seem to have quite a few new FM's join in the SCD forum this year and the place is not nearly as Pink and Fluffy as last year, which is a good thing imho. I stay well away from the very silly and childish fan base threads. Yes I have had a look see in some of them and can't believe that adults are thinking/writing such fantasy stuff. Still each to their own I suppose.

hear hear!

odlly it wasn't so bad the year before

maybe the pink board went to their heads. or it was when claudia started quoting from here.

all gets a bit too 'lovie' for me. to be honest, i think the threads about other FMs, or the posts with the 'in' jokes are as bad as any hate threads - they are all designed to exclude somebody *shrug*

I'm a veteran of the Big Brother forum. Compared to that den of nastiness, hatred and back biting this place is pink and fluffy.

I don't go on the fan threads - because I'm not a fan of anyone as such.

I just prefer the more general discussion ones and the point raising threads (and I just loooovvvee a really good moan! - I find it cheering )

It is possible to like the programme, but still have niggles and it is possible to not like a couple or person (or to be more precise I suppose, not like how they are coming across on the programme) without being labelled a 'hater'.

nor me mindyann.

like you, i'll do the more general discussion.

plus i'm not a rabid fan of any of the couples, i like most of them for different reasons. or like one half and not the other so much

Seymour, you've read my mind! Couldn't have put it better myself! Who decreed that the forum should be "pink & fluffy" anyway? And why are these people to be obeyed? A healthy dose of pragmatism never hurt anyone

Thank you, mindyann, for saying what I've been thinking for a while now - the last couple of weeks in particular there has been a lot of 'squashing' of people that want to have a bit of a moan about anything they fancy, and it's been getting to me. I'm all for being positive, but why shouldn't we be allowed to present balanced, reasoned arguments against elements of the programme that annoy us? Of course, there are always rogue elements that 'love' and 'hate' passionately and feel the need to express those same feelings continuously and with as many punctuation marks as they see fit, but they are in a minority, as far as I can see, and rarely hinder my enjoyment of a discussion.

No, we shouldn't get personal against other FMs, no, we shouldn't be abusive, but that is what the ignore and report buttons are for. We are not the moderators.

No disrespect to you, daisy, I admire your wish that we would all get along and keep things nice. I think that we can achieve that by trying to be adult in our discussions.
innocent.

Whilst I really don't like hate threads and insults , do we really have to be pink and fluffy to be here ? I just really don't do the pink and fluffy thing , please , asking nicely .

...... that it is dominated by massively long "fan" threads. Not complaining about any in particular. In fact mostly I don't visit them because there's too much to read through and I have no idea what is actually being discussed on there.
Here's to short sharp threads with obvious titles - it's so much easier to navigate!

I think it's got quite a good balance, overall - the long fan threads where it's all nice and fluffy (except when people come on and talk about how they hate that person, which doesn't really make much sense to me, but anyway) and the shorter threads that can get some good debates going. I don't think there's any need for hates and insults, but fortunately that stuff is a minority around here.
