Ok ive had my first real failure with my dhd4000

I set it to record torchwood last night as well as match of the day on bbc 2.

I then tryed to chaseplay torchwood cus id missed the first 5 mins and wanted to see it from the start.

I just got a blank screen , i thought ok maybe its just doing to much atm

The box managed to record part of match of the day but screwed most of it up.

And as for torchwood that was Frozen/pixallation followed by pixalated Channel hopping....... its as if the box hadn't locked the stream properly and decided to record the entire mux into 1 instead

Is my box/hdd on its way out or was it just having a funny moment?

Ive started a long hdd test but its well... just sitting there atm not convinced the progress bar had moved but then again its got a 160gb drive in so maybe a LONG test takes a fair while?

My Seagate 160GB drive reports itself as taking 111 minutes to perform a long SMART selftest. Other models could be shorter or longer! I ran 'smartctl -a /dev/hda' on my Linux box to get this info.

There has been some enhanced tropospheric propagation the last couple of days - perhaps this has caused some problems from co-channel interference? I have seen some pixelation on one of my muxes at times, and even a blank screen for a while.

The playback clearly showed some channel hopping between channels which i think are on the same multiplex. i think my box was having a silly moment....

ive got it set to record the repeat tonight so i'll see if it records properly this time.
