is this lcd tv good value and is it a good tv.
we will be running a freeview box to it,it is hd ready but does this mean we will get hd tv without adding something else.
we only have it on a breakfast and at the end of dinner so the hd is not that important really.
im just looking for a bit of advice on what to get really.
don't want to spend loads as there will not that much use of this tv.

thanks tiler.

Bit pricy for something that's pretty much just on in the background.

Tiler ... good TV, can def recommend it. Do a quick search on here and youwill see quite a few threads about it.

I have one in the kitchen diner and (by the sounds of it) it gets used slightly more than yours (yes, I'll admit it, we watch it DURING dinner!!) so can say it's "fit for purpose"!

Two things to note:
- the screen ratio is 16:10 rather than 16:9 ... which means images are slightly "taller" than they should be. I personally don't find this a problem (hardly notice it really!!)but some people might
- its not the lightest of TVs. Not sure if you are planning to wall mount, but if you are then i would DEFINITELY recommend checking the sturdiness of the walls first (we have drywalling, so haven't mounted it).

But can def recommend it, lots of inputs, HD Ready in case you want to upgrade in the future (no, you won't get HD without anything else), good picture, satisfactory sound (a bit low on some inputs, but that is prob down to the source) and works great as a PC/Laptop monitor if ever you need to use it for that.

One thing though ... have you thought of going something WITH an inbuilt digital tuner?

At £230 you'll struggle to get something cheaper without sacrificing quality i think. I paid £300 (on special down from £350 i think) in Jan and whilst I would obviously prefer to have the extra £70 in my sky rocket, i don't begrudge it at all.
