I have just upgraded to 08 software version, as it was about time I thought I should.
Now in 08 my source button no longer works - I know this has been discussed in previous threads but without a solution. Has anyone managed to find why this happened and found out how to rectify the problem. Once I found the source button I used it a lot to switch between TV and Humax.
Nothing in my set up changed between 06 and 08 it is strange - can we have it back for 09 please!

You might find out more towards the end of this thread: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=466667

You can make the source button not work in 06.

For my telly/pvr combinations its just down to how the pvr gets selected.

I have it setup so the source button just switches between composite & rgb.

There seems to be some incompatibilities with machines on micom 2.02 and source. Probably why this doesnt affect new machines coming out of the factiry with .08 software pre-installed. Something they need to address with the main software update due out this year via OTA

Can't you use the AV button (or equivalent) on your TV remote to achieve a similar effect? (I think the Humax's Source button just controls whether the Humax asserts itself over the TV.)

How exactly do you do this, I have played about with all the settings on TV and Humax but the source button does absolutely nothing in 08 for me!

Max - Yes I can use the TV remote but this scrolls through all the AV's 1,2,3 RGB's and S-Video for each. I used to use the source to just one button press to switch between TV and Humax.

I'm on 06, I select the AV channel on the TV rather than allow auto device switch via the SCART, you just see a slight change in picture quality.

I had no prob's with 06 it just seems a strange thing to affect with this software version upgrade.

I’ve got a new machine which came preloaded with 08 – the source button (on the remote) switches the Hummy output between itself and the DVD player I have plugged into the 2nd hummy SCART socket. ie my setup is DVD – Hummy – TV (only has a single SCART socket).

I think its because the problem only affects machines with micom 2.02 which the earlier machines have.

As I'm new, what is this 'Source' button for anyway?

It was mentioned above about pressing the AV button on the TV remote to switch to the Humax output. I find I have to do that every time the TV is switched off or goes into standby; when the TV is powered up, in order to use Freeview/Humax, I have to press the AV button.

Marc - What is this micom 2.02 business. Is there any way this can be changed. Hopefully 09 will revert to the 06 source button function.
Thanks

Can be changed by Humax back at the ranch. there was a batch of machines that would fail to turn on and the micom software was changed to avoid the issue. I think there might be some test software out this week with the fix for micom 2.02 and source button issue so that .09 or whatever it will be is OK for everyone when it comes the OTA version and the source button working OK

If you turn on the TV when the Humax is already on, to watch the Humax you either use the AV button on the TV, or press the Humax 'Source' button two or three times. Take your pick.

Likewise - have you noticed a loss of widescreen switching after using the dvd player in this configuration?

I've noticed that if you press the Source button, you get two slightly different outputs of the same screen. One looks sharper than the other smoother quality of picture. The latter seems to be the default in my case.

Yeah but it was more useful for switching between TV and PVR outputs.

The PVR output seems to be the AV RGB whilst when pressing Source I get just the AV.

You are switching bewteen composite and RGB.

Some claim that one is far superior to the other and the composite one is of terrible quality!!!

When I turn on my DVD then turn off the Humax to watch a DVD using the pass through scart feature I get the picture with no sound. Turning the Humax back on and pressing the source button fixes this. If however I turn off the Humax and then turn on the DVD it works as expected. I am using firmware 0.8

I am using a logitech harmony to control my setup so it's fairly annoying.

Any ideas?

Rather than a claim, isn't RGB, de facto, significantly better than composite? If not, why have it??
