Hi i have just brought the samsung r7 40"
and i have noticed that around the very edge of the screen in the corners that some light leakege show up on very dark screens ,the light is not always there and does not show at all on colors sometimes it doessnt even show on blacks
when i play the xbox 360 on game mode there is no light leakage att all
could anyone tell me why this light sometimes shows up is it normal or should i turn the brightness or contrast down (they are at factory settings at the moment)
please help i need to know if the tv is faulty or is it just a thing with large lcds?

thank you

Do you mean the panel itself or light leakage from the casing..?
If you mean the casing then the simple answer is NO.! if it's the screen then it could be a number of things causing it Number 1 being bad source feed.?!?

the bottom left corner of the screen and the top left are brighter then the centre but it seems to go if i lower the brigtness its not there all the time but its got me worried
can you give me some advice on level setting at the moment mine are preset
the sources ive got at the moment are
ps2 with scart
sky with rgb scart
samsung hd60 dvd with hdmi
but it shows up on the all
can you give me some advice on level setting at the moment mine are preset
could it be the heat effecting the screen as it comes and goes
can i just add that the light is very faint and sometimes not there at all i might be wasting your time but im just fussy and i need to know

Guys

I must warn you all of the terrible, terrible service Samsung customer relations give.
I bought a LE40R74 LCD in August from PRC direct.
In September a fault developed that the tv would not respond to the remote control. If I switch the tv off at the socket for a minute, the tv would work OK for 2 mins and then stop again.
The shop would not replace the tv because it was more than 2 months old.
After ringing Samsung up (takes anywhere from 15mins-30mins to talk to someone. They never ring back if you leave you're number) they got a local company to repair.
The tv was away 21 days and then I was told the parts would not be available until Nov 19th.
I was fuming, the tv was away ages and all we had was a portable.
I have rang Samsung at least 15 times and all I get told each and every time is, 'someone will ring you tomorrw'.
So, tv is still here not fixed and Samsung are not interested.

The tv's look nice but your stuck if a fault develops. Take heed.

Trust me matey been down that road myself, ended up dealing direct with the small repair company (once they had been authrised by samsung ie:- got a works number!) so in the end sorted my problems with them and not samsung, and still after 2 months I get samsung ringing me up saying we are still looking at your fault..!! They are useless!! I will never buy samsung again myself..!!

Sounds as if there is a fault there matey, I would take the tv back it you only just bought it..!! as for the settings well I have the energy saving set at medium and sharpness at 30 brightness at 80 contrast at 50 colour at 40 on all inputs, suits my viewing !!

a friend of mine as just brought a 32" r7 and he has the same problem
although he didnt notice it
we watch a dvd on his set and i saw nothing but when the film was at the end i noticed a slight shine in top right corner
after i pointed it out he didnt seem to worried
maybe its a "thing " with these tvs but some people just dont notice as much as others
i was thinking of taking it back untill i saw hes one and also been on the aussie version of this site and loads of people have had this problem some even get grey patches
i dont want to take it back and end up with a worst set

Mine wasn't that bad..! but if you ask me you can just see the stress lines where the light patch spreads out from the top down..!! Look up how a LCD screen is made and the possiablity of internal stresses is fairly easy, not to mention the samsungs casing is only very thin plastic..!!
