Perhaps its me but Arlene seems to have gotten too big for her hob nails!

If you can cast your memories back to the first series, she was acidic but gave out good advice. Now she's a drooling hyperactive, oversexed (or probably undersexed!) hussy!

Her comments of late are now echoed by some of the judges (not normally with the same expression she has but the senitment is there) Had this been the first series and said something like that I think the others would have had something to say - is she responsible for standards dropping (along with her facelift)?

She embarrasses herself more than anything. Her behaviour is totally cringeworthy.

The BBC have no problem with Arlene.
They like her just as she is.

Trouble is - CRH and Bruno are and always have been the "characters" which she obviously doesn't like!

Ugh.... Her comments have probably made some of the public and members of the forum turn against Mark and maybe Ray, like its they're fault they look the way they do!

I don't understand why people dislike Arlene so. I don't mind her or her comments at all. What I do find annoying is when she tries to say something and Len interupts her and she has to shout to finish her sentence.

I quite like Arlene, a bit of plain speaking, sprinkled with a little bit of wanton you can't beat it.

I just dont like the way any of them are so biased.

Yeah, that annoys me too - they all talk over one another. There was a lot less of that on Saturday, though, I thought.

Arlene says it like it is. Just because the men don't like it is their problem, not her's.

I don't mind arlene...sometimes she says what I'm thinking and disagrees with the other 3 judges.
I just think part of the problem people have is that she says things that can be construed as lewd but is her way of giving out a compliment. I think it's quite funny and I'm fairly prudish

To be honest I have less of a problem with her than some of the others. Alright, she has her favourites, but she rarely overmarks them. If she gives Mark a high mark, he usually deserves it and it's usually echoed by the rest of the panel. Whereas you have Craig grossly overmarking his favourite, which makes me have more ofa problem with him. I do think she can be unnecessarily lewd and personal on occasion though.

I assume by Craig's favourite, you are refering to Emma? In that case, Craig has only ever given her one more mark than the other judges, and most weeks, the judges are all only one mark apart in their scoring of Emma (7's and 8's, or 8's and 9's). So I'd say he is consistent in his marking of Emma in line with the other judges, in the same way that Arlene is with Mark.

Ahh!! But could that be because they're "under instructions" until after CIN?

As for other talking over Arlene, I think it's a reciprocal problem with all the judges.

I am amazed to see positive comments about Arlene here - which I thoroughly agree with. I don't always agree with her, but she is positive as often as she is negative and usually she has a point, if not always well or tactfully expressed. The 'man-fancying' business so many posters say they find so offensive seems obviously played for laughs, by her as much as everyone else. It only seems the good-looking men wh can really dance well who attract her - not good looks per se - Will Thorp last year didn't get much of a look-in.

Much as I think that Arlene is a bit of a twit on SCD, and I laugh as much as anyone else at comments about HRT and wiping the drool from her chin.

She is obviously quite good at what she does, FFS if she wasn't she would not have been doing it for 30 odd years and would certainly never got to be a judge on SCD.

And the fact she has been quite responsible in the past and has been known to make the odd reasonable criticism and valid comment. You will never convince me that someone at the BBC 'Let's Popularise and Drag Everything Down to the Lowest Possible Level Department' has had a few words with ALL the judges and in Arlene's case it is 'Try to sex up the male celebs, cos all the male viewers are getting an eyeful of Louisa, Emma, Carol and even Claire. Let alone not stopped thinking about Ola, and we don't want all the men having their fun and the women getting all stroppy OR the beeb get accused of sexism <red alert>........ <red alert>'

So Arlene started making the odd suggestive comment, someone saw it got publicity or a positive reaction asked for a bit more and she has just taken it too far.....

Shame really cos she could AND should have a lot to say to help a) ALL the celebs, especially about the performance side of their dancing and b) give idiots like me a guiding hand to what is what.
