It just came across as though you weren't a Muse fan. There were a lot of people there last night who appeared to have been dragged along with partners (my girlfriend, for example) so I'd thought maybe you were one such person, see? You also made no mention of having bought their CDs. But enough of this...
I've been to a heck of a lot of concerts at the MEN (about half a dozen at least this year alone) and the sound has usually been first rate to my ears, and last night was no exception. Maybe the sound of Matt's vocals could have been a little higher in the mix but I had no problems, and it all sounded great to both of us, and my girlfriend now counts herself as a Muse fan too.
Maybe your seat was in a slightly "dead" spot. We once saw Eddie Izzard there and were on the floor, dead centre, about thirteen or so rows from the front, and we couldn't hear a word he said as the speakers were aimed towards the sides and none faced the floor, so all we got were the echoes from the sides and back of the arena. Lots of people left during the interval and I emailed a complaint after the show. It worked out quite well as about a month later I received a cheque from the promoters for £80 (refunding the price of the tickets) and also a signed copy of Eddie's latest DVD.
