Unable to edit recording

Thought I'd have my first attempt at editing a recording on the 9200 (ver 1.00.06)

It said 'not available during recording', but I'm not recording at the moment ! Double checked, it's not recording. Hang on the machine is always recording when tuned to a channel isn't it, so how can I ever get in to edit files ?

Try turning the Hummy off by the switch on the back, wait 15 secs and switch it on again ...........

Its a bug that will be fixed in the next new version of the software. If you cant wait, there was a software release a few weeks ago that contains a fix for this on humax web site, which you can use the manually update your machine. There is an FAQ on manually updating your PVR software on hummy.org.uk.

it sounds like you have the "thinks it's still recording" (TISR) bug, try PiP that won't work either.

You're quite right redrob2, PiP don't work.

Looks like it's 1.00.08 for me

Let's hope that doesn't introduce any nasties.

You'll clear it if you switch off at the back, wait a few seconds, then switch back on.

Okay, thanks for those who advised the power reset, that seems to have done the trick.

The question now is how to do the editing. The manual doesn't seem particularly helpful. I managed to tim the ends of a film off okay, but wasn't sure how easy it was to remove the ads. Does this involve splitting the file ?

Any advice for this novice welcome.

No, you mark the beginning, then the end of the part to be removed, then click Delete. Expect a breakup of the picture at the joins: it isn't a very clean edit.

You are best advised to only trim the start and end on the Hummy; for more serious editing, like adverts, transfer to PC and do it there.

The Hummy does not re-join the syncs etc, so you will get all sorts of jumps etc.

Another problem ( or probably me not doing it right )

The manual (GB37) says:
1,....press the OPT+ button to enter function screen
2, press the play button to select the part to edit by frame
3, move the editing part using the [1] buttons

Neither the play button or the [1] buttons are active, ie they are greyed out. Only those buttons in [2] and [3] seem to do anything.

Someone please enlighten me.

I haven't edited anything for some time - but I think that you need to press "pause" before it'll do anything, as I recall. Might be wrong though.

You are not wrong ! Thanks

Doesn't say anything in the manual about the use of the pause button in this area.
