Corrupt transfers using USB method?

In an attempt to get some of my files before the whole thing goes wrong I have hooked up the drive to a USB adapter.

Nearly everything has come across ok except one file that appears corrup when played in VLC. The screen is all jumbled with coloured blocks of video. On the humax however it plays fine

Is this actualy a transfer issue or to do with VLC? Just seems strange the everything else came across fine.

Thanks

Could be a codec problem?

It is quite possible for the USB transfer to introduce errors as there is no error checking/correction procol. Try transferring again or try Humax Media Controller which does do error detection.

Transfer it again and see if it's the same.

Files get corrupted quite regularly during transfer. There is a program developed by a user that does some error correction. Seach this forum for details. The GUI is not as good as media linker though and you can't install it unless you uninstall media linker first.

Failing all that, try opening it in ProjectX. If you don't have ProjectX already though don't bother (it's a pain to install).

Edit - looks like Martin Liddle beat me to a reply by seconds!

Not a codec problem. The file is corrupted. Try transfering again. If it is still a problem try transfering with a different program like Media Controller or 9200TReadFiles.

It seems to be ok when I run it through VideoReDo Plus so no idea what went wrong - despite several transfers.
