32" LCD wanted - advice please re 3 choices
I have shortlisted 3 32" LCd's to hook up with a Sky box (currently non-HD), an HD DVD (Toshiba SD360E) and PS2/Gamecube. The 3 possibles are:
Samsung LE32R74BDX; Panasonic TX32LXD60; and Toshiba 32WL66 (I don't need the "T" tuner version). I have seen each of them in various stores - none at their best in terms of picture source and never side-by-side for a true comparison. I have also read various reviews, none of which made a direct comparison of all 3 of these choices Can anybody help with comments/suggestions? Thanks. |

I'd go for Panasonic every time. I can put my hand on my heart and say that my Panny is every bit as good as my old CRT TV.

I've got the 37WLT66 from Toshiba, bought it to replace an 18 month old 28" Sony CRT. I am absolutely delighted with the Toshiba - it is certainly better than the Sony was. I must admit to being a bit of a Sony fan too, so I was as surprised as anyone to find myself parting with my cash for a Toshiba.

I too am a big Panasonic fan, but it has to be said that Samsung looks like a stunning screen. Ebuyer customer comments for the Samsung are a bit concerning: Quote:
Try running windows at the native resolution of this LCD? It just doesn't happen. Samsung comment "our IT department need to write a monitor driver disk but as yet havn't". "we have had scores of people ring to complain about this, we're very sorry". So don't expect much above 800 x 600 !! Also sound needs a bit to be desired; run it with an external surround! STILL a very cool LCD, would buy another tomorrow!
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=110031Although there are other comments further down mentioning running in 1366 x 768 so not sure who to believe really! So for me it's between the Samsung on looks & features and the Panny for the name. |

Well having bought the Toshiba for my parents- after seeing amazing reviews on What Home Entertainment i have to say i was astounded with the quality. Watched Star Wars ep III on their old DVD player quality was amazing. Even better was watching A Sharks Take on Sky non HD box - the clarity was far better than any CRT i've seen. Found it for £599 on Empire Direct but i bet they're selling out fast. The stand that comes with it can be over £120 - but its £80 at RGB direct.
Not sure the price or quality of the Samsung and Panny - would appreciate comments as i'm looking to buy a new LCD for myself thats under the £700 mark.. any other recommendations? |

I can't speak for the other tv's, but I bought the toshiba (same model) last month, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Its picture is simply breathtaking, and the sound's so good, I haven't even plugged my amp in.
