Promo for a new album which I didn't know was coming out - a set of remixes of original tracks according to wikipedia.

A friend dropped me a promo copy containing 4 tracks from the 'new' CD you refer to.

Although I'm a massive fan, I have mixed thoughts on this release.

Many fans will have heard many of the other 'takes' on this CD before - Strawberry Fields Forever, for example, has appeared on bootlegs. Mixing-in snippits of other tracks can be interesting especially with the sanction of the surviving Beatles & spouses' plus G Martin & Son on the production side.

But all-in-all I think it's a record company money making stunt. Also, perhaps, the extra revenue generated will meet Sir Pauls divorce costs/settlement!

Will I Buy it however? Of course I will!

Thanks for the link. Not too sure about the "new" album, but spent a few happy minutes watching old Beatles footage, especially Lady Madonna.

It's interesting to see how mashup/remix stuff is now so mainstream - just remembering all the furore over the Grey Album a couple of years ago - no-one would have got permission to do Beatles remixes then but now it's almost expected.

Reservations about whether it's a stunt or not aside, the snippets from the videoclips did sound good to me...

I got it down as Wednesday at 11pm!

From the clips i've heard, it sounds really well done. Apple are very careful and considerate when handling this stuff. I trust them.

The sound quality will be incredible, and this bodes well for all the albums being remastered properly.

I can't see this making Sir Paul £80 million, though. Looks like he will have to dip into his savings shortly. If this was some other band not as highly regarded as The Beatles, wouldn't everybody just think this was a massive 'cashing in' excercise? Tell me again, when did they actually stop working together as a band? Before Beatle God was even a twinkle in his mum's eye?

Other artists from the same era have issued, and re-issued FAR FAR more stuff than the Beatles though, SGE. Count how many albums and greatest hits packages Elvis has.

The Beatles have done very few by comparison. They are also one of the last bands to properly remaster their entire catalogue - i am hoping 2007 is the year! What they have done has been well put together. The Anthologys are awesome, "1" sounded great, although was dubious in some songs absense, and Let it Be Naked also was a great addition.

Last recording session of all 4 of them together was in August 1969 You'd know SGE, since you were around then. Meow! Will it make Macca £80m? Over time, yes, it will have a positive impact on their catalogue sales, and the album itself will sell reasonably well, albeit not anywhere near as well as "1" globally.

I'm looking forward to this. They certainly dont go over the top with repackaging their stuff, and this does sound good.
