Not recording-Help

Hi
Over this last week several programs i've set to record haven't. I can push the record button and that works fine, but anything that's been programmed just isn't happening. i.e. tonight tried to re record Robin Hood (cos it didn't record last saturday) and i've just looked - nothing. On the EPG it still has the 'set to record icon).
Any help please would be appreciated.

Try switching of your machine from the back switch or if that doesnt work try resetting the machine to default settings. If you still cant schedule any recordings but can instant record have you checked how much disk space is left? If there is plenty then I'm at a bit of a loss. I've heard of people loosing their ability to record completely or only one programme at a time, but not about only instant record working

Hi Freetronk

This was exactly what happened to me, I also noticed that the disk space remaining would vary more than the programs recorded or deleted. I put the symptoms in one of the 'lost all' threads but mustn't have described it as clearly as yourself, otherwise marcdavis would have heard of it before cos he replied to my message. (tried to put a smilie in here but couldn't make it work)

I decided it was heading for a 'lost all recording' and copied all programs I wanted to DVD or PC and then formatted the drive and reset to default. Since that all has been OK. I am running 1.08 and have upgraded from the original 1.04 via 1.06 but without doing resets to default. Had the 9200 since this time last year.

Should also have mentioned that I made sure there was room on this disk by deleting recordings, tried a couple of power cycles and I think I did a reset to factory defualt. When none of these worked I went for the wipe it out and start again.

We've missed a few recordings lately and I think it's because the clock 'fails'. This is when it is in standby and instead of the time it shows - - - -. We're still on 1.06. Turning the machine on seems to reset it.

Does anyone know why it does this? It has done it a few times since we got it (about a year ago now), so it is not a complete disaster, but of course we generally only record stuff we want . Fortunately most things get repeated at some point but it's still damned annoying.

The time in standby is maintained by a hardware clock. The symptoms you are experiencing suggest a problem with the hardware clock. Ring Humax up and discuss getting the box repaired.

Do you use auto-switch on... I turned my 'auto-switch on' off during my recent 3 week holiday to Brazil and all week 1 & 2 recordinds were OK but nothing got recorded during week 3.

Hmm. Well that's a thought. I've got so focussed on the software of this thing that dodgy hardware (beyond the obvious HDD) had dropped off the radar.

No. But presumably if the clock has failed it won't do that either, so won't 'reset'. Catch-22
