Upscaling on Sony DVP-NS76H.
Can you only get 720p/1080i upscaled images via the HDMI socket on the Sony DVP-NS76H DVD player? Have it connected to a Sony KLV-L23M1 LCD TV via component video inputs and its displaying a 576p image at the moment.
Had an Xbox 360 connected to this TV via component video and a 720p and also a 1080i image was displayed for that. |

You should have the option of 576p and probably 480p on the HDMI as well.
A standalone scaler/de-interlacer will provide a number of resolutions to choose from however products which incorprorate scalers (DVD, STB's etc) tend to stick to the two standardised HD resolutions and progressive SD) perhaps simply a cost issue. The component is an unprotected link which is why there is no 720p or 1080i using that connection on most hardware that play commercial DVD movies. |
