I recently purchased a liteon dvd recorder, with progressive scan.

I tryed turning progressive scan on and i got a message saying the picture might go werid and that if i didnt press ok within 10 seconds it would revert back to off..

Well picture looked ok with it on (the menus at least havent really watched a dvd on the recorder yet)

So im guessing the tv supports it... is it best to leave it on?

Im not entirely sure what it does tbh, i just bought the dvd recorder becuase it supported both + and - r discs and was fairly cheap.

In general terms if you have a TV that accepts progressive scan via component then use it, there are picture advantages in making use of that facility when playing back a DVD movie.

True there are no absolutes

However given the average scaling/de-interlacing performance of HD panels then pulling lovely 576p from a DVD player will more often than not outshine a 576i feed.
At the end of the day it always comes down to what looks best to you and not what someone else tells you is right.
