Buying a mobile in the far east?

hi, Im going to Hong Kong soon and wanted to know would it be possible to buy a mobile phone out there and it work back in england?

If the handset is unlocked you can put any sim in it from the uk. Or you can pay to get it unlocked if it is locked.

i have bought a mobile from hong kong a couple of years ago, a nokia 8210, and it worked fine in the uk. only thing is all the ringtones are listed as 'Type 1' 'Type 2' etc., instead of their names.

but the cool thing is you can get really cool models that aren't released here/probably aren't going to be.

I went Hong kong last year and i found the best place to buy from is fortress (*spelling) we got 5 phones from the place and only had a probelm with one that nokia sorted out over here wioth no problem! dont use the shops over there that do the phones really cheap because they show u one phone and then when they say they will get u one in the box its usally a broken one and doesnt work! so remember this! u will be tempeted to buy from these shops offering things very cheap and if you do keep hold of the item that they r showing u nd dont let them get another for u if u decided to buy it or they say they will put it in a box dont let the item go out of ur site!

we was told all this by people who made suits for us! and one of the them was SAM's the suit maker! he is very famous and has been in FHM and over mags and made suits for the royal family and many other famous people!
