Only an idiot would go and pay £10 for a SIM card, when they're free on the internet
To Switch from Orange to Vodafone you need to do the following:
1) Get hold of a Vodafone SIM card -
www.vodafone.co.uk/shop
2) Take the Orange SIM card out of your phone and try the Vodafone SIM card in it's place. If it works, your done. If it says something about a 'network lock' or something similar, you could get the phone unlocked for free via a code - but it depends on what phone you've got so if you tell us we'll know if it can be done for free or not. If it can't, take the phone to a local independant mobile phone shop or market stall.
3) If you want to keep your current Orange mobile number and transfer it to your new Vodafone account, call Orange on 07973 100 450 and ask them for a PAC code (Porting Authorisation Code). Then call Vodafone and give them this PAC code and your number will be transferred usually within 5 days.
