I've seen a few threads like this so thought I'd see if anyone knows what this is, I love it and it's driving me mad trying to find out what it is.

Think it's pretty well known and it's been around for several years at least, heard it on the radio a fair amount so probably everyone knows what it's called except me lol. It's a chillout track, quite slow with a synthesizer playing a repeating 4 chord pattern and some piano over the top, lovely chords. The only vocal is a man saying the odd word here and there. Very peaceful, content mood. I have a feeling it may have been used for the modern 'Romeo and Juliet' film soundtrack but I don't know if that's right either.

Can anyone help?

Sounds a bit like Song For Guy by Elton John.

No, after listening to clips of covers of the song you mention on itunes (as it doesn't have the original) that's not it but thanks. The background is just 4 long notes played repeatedly and I think it sounds more modern than that.

you can listen to samples of the soundtrack here.
romeo and juliet soundtrack
but none seem to sound like what you describe.

I'm wracking my brain trying to think of what you mean

could it be a Moby track maybe?

Aha! Found it! Porcelain by Moby, thanks a lot! And it's got more vocals in it than I thought. Doesn't seem as happy as I thought either listening to the lyrics lol but it always makes me feel happy when I hear it, it's very beautiful. God knows why I thought it was in the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack.

Glad to help. Moby was the only one that came to mind for the style you were talking about.
