Help - Update Problems

12-11-2006
I have been enjoying the use of my magic box for a while now ad thought i better update the software.

From checking on here, there was an update OTA being sent all last week (1.06, i currently have 1.04 i think), and i tried leaving it in standby overnight to auto-update, and then later by triggering it by searching for updates while i waited, and both of these caused the update to fail to install.

There was something like E05 displayed on the box itself, and i had to turn it off and back on again to get it alive.

Any ideas what im doing wrong?

Look at post #27 in this thread

Do a reset to factory defaults. Menu -> Installation -> Default Settings. Then turn it off at the back and on after about ten seconds. See if that helps.

Had a similar problem myself when it came to updating from 1.04 to 1.06. I’d certainly suggest switching the machine off either at the back of the Humax or at the plug before starting but I didn’t need to reset my 9200t to factory defaults. What did seem to make the difference though was the channel my 9200t was on before I manually told the box to update – I believe I used a BBC channel to get it to work

I shall try that. Although does anyone know when any updates will be available OTA? It doesnt have to be the most up to date update, .06 will do cos i would just like to get any sort of update installed correctly.

Cheers.

There should be one on Monday mayi80. A nice improvement on .04. Note after installing the software do a reset to default settings, but if possible to a reformat of the hard drive. There was a problem with older software that causes corruption when writing to the file table - which may or may not lead to a problem later on. The fix in the new software from .06 and later versions prevents the corruption taking place but can not retrospectively go back and do a clean up job on damage that might already be there.

Great. An update as in now or a week today? Ive been experiencing small problems here and there with file names, and missed recordings and so on so i formatted yesterday anyway (though not big loss, id watched most of it). Ill start from scratch with .06 installed hopefully. ta!
