I don't know about the "greatest", but they are certainly a fantastic band.
Personally, I love em. |

They are great and I do love them. I had the misfortune to be in a chavvy bar on Saturday night with a teasing T.V. playing TOTP2 with the Clash performing Tommygun. How depressing that I was being subjected to "My Humps".

I only rate the first album, personally.
London Calling might have been great if it was a single album but as a double it's a mess. |

Dunno about the greatest, but you've put me in mind of a lot of happy memories!! I saw them on their 1977 White Riot tour and they were quite literally breathtaking, as I was squashed against the stage. They meant a lot to me for a year or so, and looking back it's quite a back catalogue. I also think they all did worthwhile stuff afterwards. Does anyone else remember Simenon's band Havana 3AM? Made one terrific album after which the singer fell ill. BAD also had their moments, and some of Strummer's solo stuff still stands tall.

The clash are cool, although slightly over-rated imho.
Paul Simonon is now in a band with Damon Albarn, which is cool as f... |
