Emma will be releasing her own version of the Sixties classic Downtown, originally a hit for Petula Clark on Monday 20th November.

Have you heard it yet? What do you think?

That's harsh!!!

I thought she was really good on It Takes Two yesterday. It was a good birthday treat for me.

i thought she really struggled........i like Emma but its not a good song for her.

However i do think Claudia is very under rated - she is fab and quite funny.

Emma Bunton's version of Downtown is f*cking awful.

No doubt mugs will buy it for CIN but it's truely dreadful.

She should not be competing in SCD and releasing this at the same time as it makes a mockery of the dancing competition (really a popularity contest) as the BBC clearly want her to win.

I like Emma and her previous material.
However she shouldn't have covered this song.
Her vocals are too weak for the song.
Her attempt is just too weak.
Sorry,but it's a thumbs down from me.

Personally I don't like her version of Downtown. It's not that she sings it badly, I just think that her usual quiet "look at me, aren't I cute" approach does a song like this no justice.

I've not heard it, but I cant imagine her coming close to Petula Clarks brilliant version.

There's a dance remix of Emma's version of Downtown which is much stronger than the main version. Here it is:

I watched the video and the song is really weak. I cannot see it getting in the top 10 even though it is for children in need. It is outdated and does not stand out at all. Hope it does well for CIN though.

It's awful, Emma just doesn't have a good enough voice for the song. I do hope it does ok though.

Here is the official cut of the CHARITY song.
So give Emma a break, enjoy it and see who you can recognize from the strictly come dancing clan. Its fun, its for the kids, there is no point in comparing it to the original as this is simply about making money for CIN

Interesting that a song from the 60's poses a problem for a modern artiste .....

..... I would imagine Kathy Kirby's immaculate "Secret Love" would represent a similar challenge .....

..... the girls in those days sure could sing

It's an awful version.
She's ok but a bit too sickly sweet for my taste.

Although Downtown is a classic, why do these people constantly rely on oldie cover versions?

It can't flop, 9 million SCD viewers, an ex spice girl, a hit song, and loads of promo due to CIN.

It will be guaranteed top 5, but they should never have given her the CIN song, let alone allow it to be so bad.

that song is f'n poor

the music drowns out her vocals (or lack of)

Poor song to choose she can't sing and can't draw a pound unless she has 4 other tramps with her or the song is for CIN

Kathy Kirby was very underrated. she had a great voice. her version of SL was actually better than Doris Day's original.

Downtown is one of my all time faves, I did hear Sinatra's version of it, that was awful.

There was actually a dance mix of Pet Clarkes version some years back. that was excellent.

I'll check out the new version and grit my teeth.

24 on downloads.

Its not the best or worst song I've ever heard. The fact its for charity has persuaded me to buy it though.
