Hi there,

I would definately buy a DVD of the series. I just can't understand why the BEEB haven't released one so far, it seems ridiculous.

I would love to be able to see Series 1 again, with that "interesting " dancing by David Dickinson & Chris Parker, which makes me laugh when I think of it now ! Also Lesley Garret's dances were really good I remember, so I wouldn't mind it for that either.

Personally I would think the BBC could make some money out of a DVD of the show ( which ought to be each show in its full format so we don't get those annoying compilations which sound good, but when you buy it, it turns out not to have what you are really looking for on it !)

I tell you something , a DVD of the show would make a damn fine Christmas Present !

If enough people sign a petition the BBC can be persuaded. I go onto the QI forum and they had a petition to get the series released as a DVD. It took a lot of pushing but they got over 2000 signatures and eventually the BBc listened and their pester power worked!

This is the site they used for the QI petition.

http://www.petitiononline.com/petition.html

They also stickied the thread so any newbies couldn't miss it.

Playing devil's advocate here, was the petition the reason the BBC put out a DVD? Was it really pester power? Or were they planning to do it anyway?

That said, it certainly can't hurt, can it?

I would definitely buy it and it would surely make a fair bit of extra cash for Children in Need!!!!!!

OK then. Someone needs to take ownership of this, so here's my effort. Feedback is welcome.

Dear BBC,

We, the undersigned, are fans of the BBC Production 'Strictly Come Dancing'. As of today, 16th November 2006, none of the four series have been released on DVD or video for home viewing. Neither have episodes been repeated anywhere on terrestrial or digital television.

We would like to propose that all three completed series, and series four when it has completed its run, be released on DVD for home viewing. As the programme raises money for the BBC's Children In Need appeal via phone votes, we would suggest that proceeds from the DVD go to the same charity.

We would welcome any additional footage, particularly from Strictly Come Dancing's sister shows on BBC Three and BBC Two.

It is well documented that classes in ballroom and latin dance have seen huge growth since the programme came to air. This DVD would capitalise on this development.

If there are any clearance issues that are preventing such a DVD from being made available, we would like this to be communicated to us.

Yours sincerely,

The Undersigned.

Good point. Let me add a line to the petition to that effect.

It has come to our attention that bootleg copies have already been sold on auction site eBay. We realise that this practice is illeagal, and we would like the opportunity to buy an official release.

BBC Worldwide is probably the best bet. They are the BBC's commerical division who handle publications and home entertainment.

I very rarely sign online petitions, but this one I so would - all four series in a lovely box set - bliss

Me neither. I'm a bit skeptical about their effectiveness.

I joined this forum yesterday just so that I could post on this very important thread - I'd also sign a petition and agree that, after 4 series, something should now be available to buy.

Might have to wait until tomorrow, as I have to leave soon. Sorry gang.

I wrote to the SCD team earlier this year after the Dancing on Ice DVD came out and asked if they were bringing out a DVD of SCD and I did get a reply but all they said was that there were no plans to issue a DVD at this time. It might be copyright problems but it's definitely worth trying a petition. I'd definitely sign it and can vouch for several of my friends who would also sign.
