Maurice Gibb has died aged 53. He never recovered from suffering a heart attack whilst having an operation to remove an intestinal blockage.

Maurice, along with his twin Robin and older brother Barry recorded some era-defining music and were responsible for some absolute classics.

Never really a big fan of the Bee Gees later stuff - but some of the very early stuff is worth a listen to.

Still sad to hear of his death though

Oh I think the Bee Gees did some very good songs, particularly Tragedy and You Win Again.

So sad that Maurice Gibb died, he was still pretty young, and the Bee Gees really were the three of them.

It was saddening to hear of his death. As well as being accomplished singers - they did have some amazing close harmony which will not be able to repeated with any replacement (which I doubt would happen), they were songwriters for so many modern artists. That should keep the BeeGee's effect on music going for at least another two decades.

I remember seeing a program once where at one point in time in, I think, 1978 Barry Gibb had writing credits on 7 of the US top 10 singles.

At the same time!

Proof positive that 'quality' can overcome 'fashion'.

58 ... that's no sort of bloody age, is it? :'(

Even if one of their songs is covered by 'One True Voice' Does anybody know if the BeeGees actually released Sacred Trust as a single or on an album - it'd be interesting to hear it sung properly.

yes is is very sad indead he was a great guy, he will be deeply missed, my heart goes out to the Gibb family.

On the subject of Sacred Trust, yes it was on a Bee Gees album, infact now there last one with (Maurice) Mo :'( it was called This Is Where I Came In, and was released in 2001, the Bee Gees performed a special for Top Of The Pops for the release of this album, sadly this was there last performance as a group in the UK, on January the 29th at 10.35pm BBC1 will be showing this amoungst others in a tribute to Maurice, be sure to tune in.

RIP Mo
