and make it to the final

This is a strong possibility especailly if there is a very clear favourite getting the bulk of the votes.

Worrying... I'd rather he didn't... He's a lovely bloke but his latin is awful and theres like 4 couples who deserve to be there over him anyways...

I think he will be knocked out in the quarter or semi finals; The 'dancing' element of the competition seems to kick in from there.

I think it is a possibility , the Great Dane is better at Ballroom than Chris P and Erin is very skilled at covering things up.

I don't. Peter is a half decent ballroom dancer can't say Chris Parker was the same. Perhaps Peter could do a James Martin? (Before James's fans say it I know James is better looking but interms of dancer I think I might put them on par with each other.)

It does worry me, although I quite happily see him there for a couple more weeks, I really don't want to see him knock out Emma, Louisa, Carol or Mark, who are much better dancers and all doing far harder routines.

As soon as Peter finishes third from bottom with the judges, I reckon he'll be out.

Well he was bottom in the eyes of the judges, but being "first out of the hat" was just the producer doig a "wind up."
I hope for the sake of the other amateurs he doesn't do as well as Chris Parker or Julian Clary as the rest of this year's remaining competitors are streets ahead of him by comparison.

But there you go!

That's the way this programme works. It doesn't make it any less entertaining.

I find the situation quite amusing as I have no favourites and it doesn't really matter who wins does it?

It's a bit like being "World Seesaw Champion" if you aren't in the "dancing business" as non of the amateurs are.

Peter is a better dancer than Chris Parker but I doubt he'll make the final. He might go on for a few more weeks but not for that long, despite the fact that he seems to have quite a fan base (myself included!).

I think he's safe because his ballroom will give him a good score keeping him high on the leaderboard and safe and his latin will always be the worst dance always placing him at the bottom.

I just wonder if its a small comfort with Peter still in the competition for the other celebrities. And whilst Peter is happy being there I have no problem.

My logic is that when the knocked out celebrity goes back into the real world, absolutely everyone is going to say "well that wasn't fair, Peter was a much worse dancer than you - even the judges said so. You shouldn't have been knocked out its just you can't overcome his fanbase". They can dust themselves off and dance into the sunset.

I was quite shocked when Pauline Quirke said on ITT that she voted for Peter - I'm not sure why but I suppose it confirmed that there really are people out there who vote for people on criteria other than those related to the actual dancing ability. Like Pauline, however, I tend to vote for whoever impresses me on the night (and sometimes that's more than one couple). I don't think Peter should, or will, make it to the final. I think he comes across as an absolutely lovely guy, and I have to grudgingly admit that he does bring something to the show (whereas I'm afraid Jan didn't), but I do agree that the winners should be the ones who give the best performances overall.

I think one of the reasons he's still in is just that - he does come across as a lovely guy. This year so many of the other celebrities seem to be having strops or taking it all way too seriously (or at least it's edited to look like that) but he just seems to get on with it and enjoy himself. A lot of people will find that refreshing and respect him for it, hence the votes.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there as far as "editing" goes, the producer can project whichever image of a contestant they chose, which will influence the voting.
The "Bunton Bunnies" won't like this, but two weeks ago when Bruce presented the "make your mind up time" speech at the commencement of the results programme before the lines closed, the best of the judges' comments about Emma Bunton was used and the worst about Lousia Lytton.
This isn't about "Bunton Bashing" it is just a fact.

Didn't she say she drinks up to two bottles of wine whilst watching the programme? .... after that lot I'm surprised she didn't vote for Joe Pasquale!

I think he could do it, but I really hope he doesn't!

I hope not.

I do like Peter and he is nowhere near as irritating as Chris Parker, but he is the weakest dancer and I would like to see the semi-finals and final to be a closer-fought competition than in the first series - Chris was so bad that Natasha just had to win back then.

I'd prefer to think of him more as a Julian Clairey, at least he was good entertainment, chris parker was just annoying!

I feel the same. He seems a really nice person and takes the criticism very well, but I would hate for him to stay in at the expense of someone really good.

He got into the final but he was REALLY REALLY REALLY bad, he was only kept in because everyone felt sorry for him and wanted to watch him make a fool out of himself

If you watch Len's 'masterclasses' on ITT, Chris Parker (along with Fiona Philips) is always used as a prime example of how not to dance.

He played Spencer, Alfie Moons brother in Eastenders - and was to watch every week on SCD!

Well to start with Peter is no Chris Parker, at least Peter can do a reasonable ballroom routine, his Viennese Waltz was rather good.

AND as long as he can avoid latin he probably should stay in the competition.

Similarly he has improved, whereas some celebs have NOT, infact IMHO, and it is only M very HO a couple of the celebs are actually getting worse, nerves, 'other commitments' or whatever, but there has been a definite down turn in at least two couples.

As for this year I am getting the idea that it seems the public get the decision, the only problem being it is a week late. Georgina and Jan are probably the best examples I can think of.

It is the first week anyone considered Peter the absolute worse, the problem with Chris Parker is that he was the worse from quite an early stage, week after week he was bottom with the judges and week after week the muppets saved him. That has not happened YET with Peter.

I'd hope not, he won't deserve to in the end. Sympathy voters really get on my nerves. His ballroom is good, granted, but in the end the latin will drag him down.
