Tonight I went to the World Music Awards.

It was an amazing atmosphere even though there where loads of empty seats. Beyonce Knowles was fantastic and sang 2 songs early on and one later. Jordan looked amazing in a white backless dress. Lindsey Lohan was so off her head that she had to do loads of retakes for the booing crowd.

But it was all about Michael Jackson, there was a rumour that he was going to sing Thriller. The music started, there was a skinny guy on the stage wearing a red jacket, lights go up and...its not Michael. So somebody else sings Thriller with all these Zombies. When Thriller was finished Beyonce came back and gave an amazing tribute speech for Michael. The crowd went mad. Michael came out thanked everyone for his award. Then the music started, everyone thought Michael was going to sing at that point and when another artist came out they got booed. Loads of the crowd thought that was that and started to leave. But hang on suddenly there where 50/100 teenagers on the stage clapping We are the World - fantastic. So the kids sing the first verse, then the second verse then Michael comes out waves, shakes hands. waves, blows kisses, then starts 'We are the Wor.....'.but the backing tape finishes. Then Michael waves again and leaves the stage having sang three and a half words. No one could believe it. But that was that. It will be interesting to see how it looks on Channel 4.

It was not run very well

Did they have nominees for the categories or did they just announce the winners? If they had nominees, the winners are even more of a joke.

How much did you have to pay for a ticket!? Seems if you wanted to see Michael Jackson perform you got short-changed something rotten.

Didn't he 'sing' just two lines? If you think this is acceptable then quite frankly you deserved to get fleeced.

Chris Brown was the fella performing Thriller. Apparently people were expecting Jackson to recreate the video? He doesn't look physically capable.

I remember his little dance cameo with N*Sync at some MTV awards a few years back, he was out of puff after about 30 seconds.

Going by reports, he did sing, albeit poorly.

I wonder how differently things would've been had he taken all those Neptunes and Timbaland productions which he turned down and then went on to be huge hits for Timberlake and Usher.

It's just been on Radio 1 that Jacko's people have contacted them to say that 'the engineers at the venue delibrately made him look bad by cutting the sound'. Earls Court have said this is bollocks.

Can he not do anything even vaguely normal??

Jacko + awards ceremonies = disaster.

Remember when he thought Britney was giving him an artist of the millennium award? Excruciating.

i saw a snippet of his 'performance' on bbc news this morning

it was awful - and you could definatley hear how terrible he sounded over the backing track

tis a shame of him, he was relatively normal when he did thriller all those years back

He wasn’t really though was he, he just did a better job of keeping all his weirdness undercover – probably because he had better management in the early days, before his ego exploded and he thought he was some kind of god.

More or less what they were reporting on Capital. The awards organisers claim the sound was cut by the venue because the event was over-running,the venue denies this.

I see the tabloid readers are out in force in this topic.

Never did Michael say he was going to perform at the show, did anyone see the live coverage of MJ arriving on Sky News? He even said himself that he wouldn't be performing. It had been rumoured in the tabloids about he'd sing Thriller but why all of a sudden do people believe what crap The Mirror prints?

The reason his fans believe The Mirror, of all papers. Is because they (his fans) think the sun shines out of Jacko's a**e and he is a god
Yeah right. They put him on such a pedastal, and travel hundreds of miles to see this walking advert as reasons NOT to have plastic surgery and then he 'sings' what 3 words? And they complain, well some thought it was worth £100. hell if I had paid a £100 to see one of my favourite artists and they sung 3 words I'd be mighty p****d.
I think they got ripped, but deserve getting ripped cause they like jacko

People who paid £100 only to see Michael need a reality check. It was an awards ceremony yet these idiots probably throught it was a Michael Jackson concert.

I think the people saying they paid £100 are probably including travel expenses.
However, the £30 ticket fee isn't bad considering all the stars which were there last night although I've no idea who Chris Brown is.

On a par with this?

Although 'weirdo's' performance is mercifully shorter.

I was working at the event, but like everyone I was excited about seeing Michael sing.
But as Michael was about to go on stage there was trouble in the VIP area. Too many people where inside and even more trying to get in. The whole show stopped for about 40 minutes. Then loads of kids came on the stage Michael walked on waving and just when he got into key and started to sing the music stopped.

Because of the 40 minute delay, Michaels mike was switched on and off like the lights going on and off at the end of a bus route, then music was stopped altogether.

People where booing at everything, but mainly at the fact the sound was cut. Others miles in the Gods did not know so blamed Jackson.

The whole thing was rubbish, the sound was crap, and the security where very heavy handed
